How this college community can positively transform your personality

“A comfort zone is a beautiful place. But nothing ever grows there”. As young people struggling to form an identity in this new world we are forced in, we strive to stick to things which feel familiar. We try to do the same things we’ve grown up doing, act and behave the same way we’ve always been taught to, and most importantly, we wish to grow without wanting to change.
The Board of Young Leaders Program by Eat My News challenges exactly this thinking of ours. A global youth community that strives to make the world more inspired, intelligent and informed, Eat My News as an organization knows exactly how to introduce the youth to the current reality without making them run in the opposite direction.

BOYL brings students together from all corners of the world and enables young people to develop themselves through learning from knowledge, opportunities and challenging experiences. It transforms our personality like no other program and makes us strive for the better in all aspects of our lives.

Here are different ways in which BOYL improves our personality-
It enables us to become better leaders- As members of BOYL, students can either remain members or become leaders and lead their own teams. BOYL teaches us the true meaning of leadership and gives us the experience necessary to stand by the values learned. It is difficult to gain opportunities to lead in college and thus BOYL has a variety of leadership roles students can apply and get selected for. Being empathetic and kind are core values any leader should have, and BOYL teaches that and so much more.
It enables us to become better team players- “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” In today’s world, it is essential to look past our personal goals and work towards achieving community or team goals. Nothing much in the world can be done alone. We’re always surrounded by people and whether one is the employee or the employer, it is crucial to be a team player. Improving others means improving ourselves. As members of BOYL, students learn how to work towards a common goal and work together with different kinds of people to achieve it.

It enables us to become better Multi-taskers- The world is moving fast, and the fear of being left behind exists in all of us. Unless we learn the ability to multi-task, it becomes far too difficult to finish all the tasks we have lined up for a day. BOYL helps us in achieving this important skill as well. As members of a department, (content, HR, marketing, etc.) there are many different tasks that need to be done efficiently in the same stretch of time. Nothing worth having comes easily, but the ability to multi-task might just give us an edge over others.
It enables us to be more punctual- Punctuality is a trait everyone looks for, no matter the profession. Whether it is regarding reaching a particular place on time or perhaps completing an assigned task when expected, through BOYL young leaders are sure to incorporate the skill of punctuality in their lives. Punctuality shows that as a person they respect both their and the other person’s time. Punctual people know no excuses, just deadlines and how to productively complete tasks before the scary ‘deadline-alarm’ starts to ring. In BOYL, students not only learn how to be efficient themselves but also learn how to make their team members incorporate this necessary skill as well.
It enables us to be Independent- As a member of BOYL, students attend a two-day residential conference known as the Youth Leadership Conference (YLC). Students from across the world get the opportunity to learn and stay together for 48 hours. It’s an experience unlike any other. A mix of work and fun, by the end of two days, one comes out an entirely changed person. The YLC definitely changes one for the better.

It provides us with necessary problem-solving skills- Challenges don’t knock. They can come up at any time and anywhere. What matters is how well we can deal with them. Every situation needs to be dealt with differently and patiently. BOYL guides us through that as well. As students working towards a common goal, obstacles may arise. They can be technical or people related. Through practical learning, students understand how to manage different kinds of issues and still get the work done on time. Students learn that no problem is big enough that it cannot be dealt with and no hindrance is as difficult as it seems.
It teaches us to be passionate- “When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible.” Passion works when everything else fails. One of the most prominent ways in which BOYL shapes a person’s personality is by teaching them that nothing is more important than being passionate about a particular goal or dream and nothing is more important than working towards making that dream a reality. It is important to be passionate, everything else will follow. If we’re working on a particular task, it should be the most important thing at hand. It is essential for us to have belief in the work we’re doing. It is ultimately passion and passionate people who run the world.
The Board of Young Leaders Program offers an opportunity one should not let go off. Very few organizations in today’s time offer students the flexibility to fail and learn at work. It is okay to fail. What is important is that we learn from our failures and turn them around.  As students, this is the only time we have to experiment and explore without much thinking. This is the best time to nurture skills that may now seem unnecessary but will take us far and wide in life. BOYL doesn’t just prepare the present YOU. It prepares the future YOU. Do something that makes the future YOU a better person. Do something that makes the future YOU grateful. Come and join the Board of Young Leaders Program today.
