An Insight Into the World of an Instagram Influencer: Rishabh & Aastha

Note: The interview is part of our series on: 'Top Influencers' as part of a build-up to: 'Youth Leadership Conference 10.0'. You can find out more about the conference here.

What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

We both have had this never-ending urge to explore new things. New places, new dishes, new cuisines or new stories as well maybe. Then there was a conference in college where people with unconventional careers came and spoke about their fields and struggles, that’s when it struck us to start something of our own too. Since we were big food enthusiasts and used to post pictures and videos on Snapchat and our personal Social Media accounts, we decided to make a page dedicated to this. Initially, we wanted to cover everything but then we stuck more with food and came up with a Food Blogging page. Although on our other platforms, be it YouTube or Facebook, we cover Travel and Lifestyle as well.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

What we feel is that a Blogger writes for his passion. He wants to expand his knowledge and knowledge of his readers. Aim of a blogger is to give a new perspective to look at the things they are writing about. Also, It is more of a very personal segment while an Influencer gives an idea to the audience about the product they are posting about. Their aim is to post content in such a way that they can make their audience feel about something in a certain way. An influencer has so many platforms to post content whereas a blogger might lack in those.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Be it for an influencer or any other professional, hard work, perseverance and dedication are the most important things. Yes, there is a lot of competition and the struggle is immense but if you are true to your work, you can be creative and innovative in your own way then being Financially Stable is also possible.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

The way an influencer presents his/her views about any food, place, the product can largely influence a consumer’s behaviour. Today we have a not n influencer-cum-expert in everything field so what they say to their audience can affect a lot because they give a first-hand experience of that particular product.

Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.

We think it’s not a positive step because as an influencer the engagement is a big factor of how Brands approach us and how we collaborate with them and if we can’t show the exact details then it does makes it a big risk to sustain easily. Not just for us but for everyone who had made it their Full-Time profession.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Honestly, Success is a very subjective term. The parameters and levels are different for everyone. So, there are a couple of things we abide by. Patience is the key, you won’t get 100k followers in a day or in a week or month so keep working and Never Beg in front of anyone, don’t ask anyone to like your picture or follow you, let your work speak if it’s good it will get recognition. We understand it’s easier said than done but Hey! We are doing it so it’s worth a try.
