1. Tell us more about your role and responsibilities at your college?

As President of Maitreyi College my roles and responsibilities extend to each and every student of the college.

I am the union representative of the students and my role and responsibilities revolve around students and make sure that no student in the college has any problem or query with the college administration, teachers.

I act as a linchpin between the students and the college administration. It’s my duty to make sure that if any student has any problem or wants to suggest something or ask something then it’s me who has to take their demands and query forward and make sure that they get their favored response.

2. What’s it like to juggle between a leadership role and normal college life?

There are weeks when I don’t get to attend my classes and have no normal routine as every morning comes up with a new responsibility. So yes it is difficult to maintain a balance between leadership role and normal college life, but you just have to work a little harder to enjoy both the things simultaneously.

Friends play a major  major role in dragging you back to normal college life.

3. What have been some of your biggest challenges and learning form what you do?

The position on which I am is challenged every minute and I have to prove myself every time in order to make sure that I am worthy of the post that is given to me by the students and they don’t regret their decision.

My work and decisions are open to challenges, criticism and scrutiny and it’s my work to come up with a decision which benefits all and is not biased. I have to battle challenges everyday and strike a balance in my decision.

The biggest learning of my life is that I have learned to be disciplined, being able to fulfill and take responsibilities, handling pressure of decision making, accountability and also punctuality where I have to do a given work in a given time.

4. Do you enjoy the kind of influence you hold at such a young age?

It’s good to know that the students who choose me find me worthy enough that they can trust me and are influenced by me. I see it as a responsibility and duty to make it up to students expectations. It gives me relief that my decision is whole heartedly accepted by the students.

This kind of trust and influence is developed when there is bilateral relation between me and the students.

5. What are your career goals and how is what you are doing is going to help you with that?

My goal is to pursue higher education and learn as much as I can. Whatever I do today is not necessarily helpful in my future because there are somethings that I wanted to do and one of  them was being the president of students union of my college because I always possessed leadership skills and wanted to showcase it and the college gave me the opportunity to do that.

Maybe the post that I am holding may not be helpful in my future but the journey of being the president has taught me so much and will always remain with me and will reflect in my character wherever I am an whatever I am doing.

6. What did you do in your current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?

I am not on this position so that I can be proud of, but I am here because I like to work for students and help them in every possible way and give my 100%.

I don’t know if proud is the right word but yes, it gives me a sense of relief that all the time I have tried to made sure that no one is deprived of the things that one deserves and I have made decisions keeping in mind requirements of every individual and giving them the best.

This is the thing that I have tried to make sure in my journey and I think I have succeeded and that’s what makes me proud.

7. What’s your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

Conferences and internships provide opportunities to the students to have an overall personality development.

I think students should do internships and attend conferences that are related to their career choices and helpful in their career building, it is completely one's own choice whether to attend or not and what kind of internship or conferences they should associate themselves with.
