1. Tell us more about your company and your journey.

The Ecosattva Store is a curated marketplace for all types of products that you would need to live a sustainable lifestyle. Our objective is to help customers switch to a sustainable lifestyle by providing them with all the information and products that they need.

When we started 2 years ago we had 15 brands and 200 products. In 2 years, we’ve grown to over 70 brands and 3000+ products. We’ve participated in 30+ events across the country, including the Spoken fest and NH7 Weekender.

And the most exciting feeling is when people from across the country tell you that they have heard about your brand and love shopping from your website.

2. How did you come up with this idea and go about executing it?

When I decided to switch to a sustainable lifestyle it was very difficult to get the correct information. There were a lot of brands selling sustainable products but you really had to go and search for them.

That’s what gave rise to Ecosattva, to make all these amazing brands accessible to everyone while creating awareness about leading a more sustainable lifestyle.

3. What has been your biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome that?

We’re living through the biggest challenge right now. Everything that we thought we knew and took for granted has been turned upside down. The first few weeks of the pandemic, sitting at home and not being able to do anything, were the most difficult.

But we did manage to make the most of it and used this time to get a much awaited revamp on the website so we could introduce new features that enhance the shopping experience.

4. What do you think are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?

Perseverance! You need to celebrate each victory no matter how small and at the same time not let the set backs bring you down. You will make mistakes, more than you can count, but you need to learn to course correct and move on quickly.

5. What are some of the most important factors for running a successful business?

A good product/service. You can have the best of all other aspects of business but if your product is not good you will not last for long. My rule of thumb for picking products for the website is to see whether I would buy it or not.

6. What are your tips for first time and aspiring entrepreneurs?

Before you launch a business make sure you have done your research. Know everything about your market and product/service. The biggest mistake that most aspiring entrepreneurs make is not researching the market and their product thoroughly.

When you have a good idea it’s very easy to get possessive about it, you don’t want someone else to steal it. But you need to talk to people about it and get their feedback, this can help you fine tune your product and also save you from making costly mistakes.

Know who your audience is, what they want, and how you want to market to them. Use these insights to create a comprehensive plan. Once you start your business you will get a better understanding of what is working for you and what is not. Use that learning to fine-tune your plan.
