1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I am from Jhansi(U.P.) . I hail from a family of doctors. My father is an urologist and my mother an ENT specialist. My family is like a close knit dream family. All of us, my parents, my grandmom , my brother and I share a very warm bond.
I have studied M.B.B.S. from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore.
Now, I work as an actor in Mumbai.
2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?
Right from my childhood I was fascinated by films, tv and the entertainment industry . I loved being on stage in school, and was very popular for the same.
So, yes ..Somewhere inside me I always dreamt of it, but the realisation had not struck me till quite late.I had no clue that I can make this into a career.
That is why, I did what anybody else would do... i.e. go with the flow...Study what you are good at and get a degree.
3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?
The belief comes from within. Passion is what drives you in fields like these specially for an outsider like me, who had no connections or even a faint idea about this world.
The best thing one can do is, work on the craft. Own the skills..Train yourself , and keep trying.
Also, to be mentally prepared from before entering this field is a must.
4. If not this, what would you be doing?
If not this, I would be continuing my medical education and would have served as a doctor.
It's a noble profession, can't think of anything better.
5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?
I would like to tell them to be strong, both in the craft, and mentally.
Give as many auditions as they can, it increases their chances of getting recognised.
Daily testings, vulnerability, rejections, belittling are not skippable here.
All we need to do is to stay positive and believe in ourselves.
6. What is your mantra of success?
Success is actually subjective .
For me success is not just professional achievements, but a balance of everything.
So my mantra of success is to do what I want. To focus on being happy, positive, productive and relaxed .
Work hard, everything else will follow eventually.
7.Which is your favorite book and why?
It's quite an irony...But I don't read books.
Neither was I very studious, nor I liked reading fiction or other things for fun.
However, I do know the importance of reading and would want to encourage everyone to read a lot. That does open so many channels of knowledge and creativity.
It's a pity that I don't read, and wish to cultivate this habit.
