Insights on Instagram by an Influencer: Avipsa Roy Chowdhury

What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
A girl who was diagnosed with depression and anxiety issues in her adolescence, I found my solace in YouTube. I got inspired by so many young and vibrant women who are making the best out of their simple life. I thought I should also share my thoughts, my efforts to stay happy and share my simple life experience with people so that who like it can also try some part of it. The fashion, or beauty segment that I share is very simple easy-to-follow everyday stuff. I love sharing real opinions on things through my Instagram page.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
I would like to state a clear difference - "A blogger can be an Influencer but not all influencers are bloggers". The blog has a very simple meaning is a more descriptive form of writing with/without multiple pictures in a place(website). But an influencer can create any type of content, even one picture or few lines or maybe a video or maybe an audio and have the power to influence many. I still feel the content creator is a better term than influencers.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
This one varies person to person, in my opinion for me and my experiences I don't think we should keep only this as a source of income, I don't think it's perfect to go full at this point. But you can definitely go full time if you have the backup or savings for at-least 2years to make you sustain. Or you have multiple contracts that guarantee you fixed income for 1year or more.

What do you think influences consumer behavior?
In today's world consumers are smart and sound on what's good for them, genuinely is important. Consumers nowadays want sustainable, eco-friendly, chemical-free products and they know what's good and what's not so good. Like for travel people love to see in budget places, experiences for exploring the locals.

Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
I feel it's definitely a good step by Instagram coz the quality of content can't be tagged by likes. Also, it creates unnecessary competition. If you’re doing great work, the amount of like doesn’t matter that much.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
My mantra in life is Living a Happy Life coz that's most important! For me, that's with the people around me my friends, family, and society. And for doing something for the society you don't have to do a lot or show it to people, it can be a simple thing as helping in NGO, providing food to someone who is hungry and can't get some around you, or whatever good might be your idea.
