1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

Hello, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Namrata Naralkar and I am a 23 year old Nutritionist and Fitness Trainer (Certified INFS Fitness Expert). I have done my Computer Engineering from a reputed college but deep down I was always interested in the fitness industry. Since, my childhood I've been fat and I used to overeat and gained crazy amount of fats and there was a time when I realised that I need to work on myself and get fit and here I am today, 13 kgs lighter, fitter and happier.

2. What is your fitness mantra?

If you want to be fit physically and mentally then you need to eat right, strength train & practice yoga.

3. What are some of major misconceptions about diets and exercises?

People think diet is all about starving or eating salads or following a particular diet  such as “Keto” which is not sustainable in the long run. When it comes about exercising, people have a misconception that to reduce tummy fat you need to do lot abs workout or cardio infact Spot reduction is a myth!

4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

By eating adequate amount of protein, good fats, minimal Carbohydrates in their regular diet & limiting sugary foods like chocolates, deep frieds and junk foods. Being active is very important to stay fit. The more the muscle mass in your body the fitter you are so Strength Training, Yoga & Some Cardio activity are key tools to be fit.

5. How can one build a successful career in your field?

”Preach what you practice” The foremost important thing is self discipline. I personally believe that self love is practising self discipline. You need to be fit and stay updated about recent scientific researchers about nutrition to have right knowledge. 

6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?

Losing weight can be a piece of cake when done in the right way. Drink 4-5 lts of water, count your calories and macros. Keep you protein intake from 1.2-2.0 g/kg body weight depending upon your fitness goals. Let rest of the calories come from good fats like ghee, butter, olive oil, coconut oil, eggs, cottage cheese, milk etc and Carbohydrates you love! Prioritise strength training along with fitness activity you love, like dance, cycling or yoga.

7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?

Eating healthy and exercising daily is a no brainer, everyone knows that it helps to keep your brain and body happy. One must practice mindfulness eating and not emotional eating. Exercising daily will boosts your immunity, keep your heart healthy, you will have clear skin and better hair, better gut health and much more.

You will feel energetic/ active throughout the day. Hormones such as endorphins, serotonin, dopamine are released in response to increased physical activity. I would say in other term "Fitness is happiness".
