The news of return of intense battle game PUBG in India has brought smiles and excitement to the Indian loyal PUBG players. The game is said to be released once again in India after the publisher KRAFTON ties with new partner Microsoft to meet the local laws. It will be called PUBG Mobile India and certainly will come with a couple of changes to suit the Indian sentiments.
Last week, the official account of PUBG Mobile India
announced that the game is set to return to India. It will be called PUBG
Mobile India and will strictly abide to the government laws. KRAFTON, the
parent company has signed a deal with Microsoft to attain the Azure Cloud Services
for storing player data.
This will help PUBG Mobile comply with the requirements of
the government regarding privacy. It is rumored to be launched on 20th November
but any official declaration is not yet made by PUBG Mobile India. However, the Government is yet to give green signal to it.
Why Is PUBG Banned?
PUBG, both its Mobile version and Lite were very famous in
India, crossing over millions of downloads since it came into the country. It
was growing fast with huge user base in India. But on 2nd September, the
government banned the game in India under Section 69A of the Information
Technology Act.
The government has provided the reason behind the ban
stating it has been engaging in activities that are prejudicial to nation's
sovereignty, security, integrity and defense. Along with PUBG, many other
Chinese apps were banned by the Government of India. The ban took place at
times of serious military standoff with Chinese armies near Pangong Lake in
Sino-Indian border.
Since then, the game has been removed from Apple's App Store
and Google Play Store. But players with the app were still able to play as the
Indian servers were left online and were recently turned off. PUBG Corporation
revoked Indian distribution rights for the game from Tencent Games and
announced it will distribute it independently. But it failed to make a
comeback.
Later it started showing up that it will tie up with Jio or
Airtel to get back to its users in India. None of them was fruitful and
recently tied up with Microsoft Azure Services. ‘It is coming back to the
country with new avatar’, announced PUBG Mobile India.
Information Technology Act
The Information Technology Act of 2000 is the primary law
that deals with cyber-crime and electronic commerce in India.
It provides legal recognition for transactions that are
carried out by means of electronic data interchange. Further, it defines
cybercrimes and prescribes specific penalties for the same. The Information
Technology Act, 2000 was enacted on 9 June 2000 by Parliament of India and it
is in force since 17 October 2000.
Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 has
given many powers to the central government to block the online content and
arrest the culprit.
It is the primary law that deals with cyber-crime and electronic
commerce in India. It gives the power issue direction to remove objectionable
content on social media and any other website, block online contents in the
wake of sovereignty and integrity of India.
The New Rules
Although, it is not known when it will launch but the game
is back with few changes keeping in view of Indian culture and social norms.
There will be limited playtime in Indian version. It was even in PUBG Mobile Global,
but it is expected to be stricter in the Indian version to ensure healthy
gaming habits for the younger audience.
There will be green bloodstain effect in it. The violent
shooting is thought to have made younger players insensitive to shooting and
seeing blood, so this change has been done to show the virtual nature of the
game. PUBG Corporation has worked on modesty as the characters would
automatically begin fully dressed in the game. Later, you can change the skins
to more revealing ones.
PUBG Corporation has recently tied up with Microsoft to
store user data on Azure Cloud. Its centers are located in India, which means
that the data of PUBG Mobile India users is unlikely to leave the country
borders. PUBG Corporation will invest $100 million into the India subsidiary
and other projects to ensure the sports, entertainment and IT industries of
India get a boost from the company.
