1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

I started my career working in Corporate, but later on realised my love for coaching & helping people to get in the Best Shape & Health of their lives.

Thereafter, I started BIRa Fitness, a Science Based Fitness Coaching company which has now helped close to 250 clients in achieving their Health & Fitness goals including Fat Loss , Muscle Gain, Improving Sports Performance, Healing Injuries and improving Health.

I’ve successfully coached a wide range of clients including Physique Athletes, Doctors, Entrepreneurs & Busy Professionals, Combat Sports Athletes, Recreational lifters & People just looking to get fit into their favourite clothes. I also value Mental & Social Health equally as Physical Health.

I’m also an Author & Educator and have written Articles for MensXP in the past.

Education & Certifications - JPS Mentorship (Australia), RTL Programming Mentorship (USA) & Compound Performance PL Mentorship (USA)

When I founded BIRa Fitness, my simple motive was to create a positive dent in the flawed, damaged & misinformed Indian Fitness Industry. I couldn't see people in the gym being suggested endless Cardio, fat burners, Fasted Cardio, BCAAS, sticking to top big 3 movements for growing muscles, and numerous other quackeries which hold minimal importance when it comes to changing physiques.

However, my passion for this field started back in college where I was unable to bring results to my own physique. my friends and gym mates got buffed up easily, but I couldn't. I don't know what was going behind the scenes, could be their genetics, hard work, or Steroids (can never be ignored). The results were never a low hanging fruit to me .My constant struggles with gaining muscle led me to learn more about the nuances of the game.

After graduating and getting a job, I landed myself into Mental Health disorders and multiple injuries in my shoulder, Lower Back & my calf. New struggles, but my approach remained the same - a total Badass! Kept struggling and successfully found the way out of all those hiccups.

And hence, I firmly believe that we don't earn anything when the success comes easy. You can never learn anything about earning money from a kid born in a rich family.

Likewise, if you achieve your goals early in your fitness career, you won't be able to fall in love with the process. You won't be able to respond well to the challenges that are posed on you.

A strong believer of No-Nonsense Approach when it comes to Fitness, I have been fortunate enough to learn from the brightest minds in the world.

2. What is your fitness mantra?

We see fitness as enhancing aesthetics (how we look & present to the outer world). However, this is not Fitness. This is Physical Fitness!

Fitness is more about valuing Physical, Mental & Social Health equally!

Nobody cares about your abs, if you have broken relationships & are stressed inside out.

3. What are some major misconceptions about diets and exercises?

‘Fitness’ & ‘Diet’ are two words which have a negative sight related to it. We generally get scared when we hear these words. However, that’s not the case.

Fitness & Diet should not take away the life from you. Infact, it should add on & enhance the current quality of life.

Diet doesn’t mean eating boring, bland & exotic foods like Salads & Fruits. It’s eating the same foods which you’ve been eating for a while, with a little bit of quantity tweaks.

And yes, you can still have your favourite foods like chocolates & Icecreams on a daily basis & still los weight/fat. You don’t have to grill yourself to the bone while exercising.

4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Find out your real ‘WHY’ behind getting fit!

Is it because you want to play with your children?

Is it because being healthy will increase your self esteem?

Is it because your partner or social media standards want to you to look in a certain way?

If the latter is the case, you need to change it and find out an internal motivation source. After you find it (e.g. Self Esteem, feeling good), you won’t require motivation to drive you.

The Processes, Systems & Habits will make you reach your goals!

5. How can one build a successful career in your field?

Getting Educated & Applying that on yourself & other people. After this, start bringing results & provide the best services to people. BUild Relationships!

Those first few people will be your free life long marketeers.

6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?

In the end, it comes on to the Law of Thermodynamics which we learnt in School. Weight Change is all about how much energy is entering the body & how much energy is leaving the body.

If the energy coming in via food is more than energy burnt by the body, you will gain weight.

If the energy coming in via food is lesser than energy burnt by the body, you will lose weight.

Now, with this we get to know that quantifying the food & increasing the activity levels are really important.

Either we start tracking & measuring the calories in food which we eat, or start lowering down the portions of the food.

If you were eating 4 chapatis & 1 bowl of Sabzi, start eating 3 chapatis & 3/4th bowl consistently, I assure you that you will lose weight.

7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?

Now, Exercising well & Dieting will make us healthy & look better, that’s a no brainer. But, they not only improve our health markers but also start a positive feedback loop by increasing our confidence & self esteem.

As I mentioned above, Fitness is not just about valuing Physical Health, but also Mental & Social Health equally!

This forms a spiral of desirable results and hence a higher quality of life!
