Should Beauty Pageants Be Banned?

They seem to have always existed, honoring the lingering relics of a nostalgically straightforward understanding of our culture. Even in the 19th century, it was a throwback to earlier times when the earliest known beauty pageant, staged in 1839 as part of a medieval joust recreation, crowned a young woman as the "Queen of Beauty." Even though it may do so in ways we can't yet foresee, the pageant still goes on and seems certain to do so. An account of the competition is about to begin.

Why Should Beauty Pageants Be Banned?

The fact that all of us closely follow contests, media trends, and beauty pageants like this one has a detrimental effect on society. The overall message being conveyed to our younger generation's female youth is that perfection and beauty are necessary.

Their self-esteem is affected, and it could even lead to depression. Young girls may put greater emphasis on their external looks due to the impact of beauty pageants than on developing life skills and a job. Their entire life may be impacted by this change of course.

They advocate for aesthetic procedures. These days, women are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on branded clothing, makeup, body implants, botox,  spray tans, hair extensions, and artificial teeth. This could be quite expensive to afford, and such costs never stop. Cindy Jackson, a well-known television personality, holds the record for having 52 plastic procedures.

Some women may even develop an addiction to such behaviors, at which point they don't look back. This is a direct result of how highly valued beauty is in society. Increased objectification of women may result from beauty pageants. Most young females who are just starting out in the beauty profession become overly preoccupied with advancing their careers.

They are easy victims for high-ranking designers and managers because of their passion, who take advantage of their gullibility. Additionally, people today are so preoccupied with professional advancement that they suffer from sadness and anxiety from a young age.

Girls between the ages of 3 and 10 compete in the American reality show Toddlers and Tiaras, a pageant for young girls. Some families get so preoccupied with it that they essentially force their children to use tanning booths and even have botox injections to tighten their skin. Children's participation in this abhorrent tradition teaches them nothing and robs them of their innocence.

Why Beauty pageants should not be banned!

Through competitions like Miss Universe or Miss World, people with similar interests are brought together, encouraged to share ideas, and given a stage where they may finally showcase their potential and perhaps even turn it into a career. Strong physical traits are less significant than creativity, intelligence, and invention in this industry.

In addition to possessing a flawless complexion and an ideal body, candidates for Miss Universe must have extensive experience working in social service organizations such as NGOs, orphanages, senior living facilities, etc.

The Miss Universe organization has been giving back to society in numerous ways. The contestants' social work output and the number of individuals it has influenced are also considered when determining who wins the competition.

The female population may benefit greatly from this as an opportunity to develop their self-confidence in public speaking competitions, work toward mastering this skill, and impress the judges with their unique personalities. Additionally, it encourages discipline about food, health, and exercise because they must be physically ideal.

Televisions are typically in high demand at beauty pageants, and the winners receive substantial monetary prizes and privileges. This presents an excellent chance for people who want to pursue further education at a reputable university, need cash to support their family, or simply want to realize their goals.

Some people are huge admirers of these pageants, while others have shunned them from the start. These competitions don't just limit participation to adults or women but encourage participation from young boys and men. We can't determine if beauty pageants are good or bad since different people will have different opinions about what is and isn't acceptable.

Since they are here to stay, it is essential to reform them so that they do not cause young girls to develop insecurities and low self-esteem. Then, beauty pageants will become enjoyable and safe.
