DJ Ravish Interview
“The IPL stage taught me one lesson — when 50,000 people trust your music, you don’t play for them… you play with them.”
1. How did your journey as a DJ begin, and what inspired you to choose this path?
My journey began back in school, when I developed a deep passion for music and would listen to it at full volume for hours. In 2003, we got our first computer and I came across videos of international DJs performing in front of massive crowds. That instantly sparked something in me, and I knew this was what I wanted to do. So, right after my Class 12 exams, I officially stepped into the world of DJing.
2. You've performed across so many venues and cities — which performance has been most memorable for you and why?
Performing for the IPL has been one of the most unforgettable moments of my career. I’ve been a cricket lover since childhood, so playing in front of 40,000–50,000 people at a live sporting event was surreal. The scale, the adrenaline, and the energy of the stadium crowd are unbeatable — nothing else compares to that experience.
3. How do you stay creatively motivated and constantly evolve your music style?
I stay motivated by listening to different genres of music and staying up to date with industry trends. I also pay attention to what fellow artists are creating. Music is always evolving, and to stay relevant, you have to keep learning, adapting, and experimenting. That mindset keeps me creatively fresh.
4. Can you share a moment where you faced a challenge in your career and how you overcame it?
Challenges are part of every DJ’s life — especially technical issues that can show up right before or even during a performance. A laptop crash, faulty console, wiring errors, or problems with the sound setup can happen anytime. The key is to stay calm and figure out quick alternatives. I remember performing at a packed club in Nepal where most of the console buttons weren’t working. Still, I played for three hours and kept the crowd entertained. Experiences like that teach you resilience and adaptability.
5. What role does audience connection play in your sets, and how do you read a crowd?
Audience connection is everything. A great DJ can usually read the vibe of the crowd within the first five minutes — it’s a skill that comes from experience rather than any rulebook. Interaction with the audience plays a huge part too. If the DJ isn’t engaging with the crowd, the energy becomes disconnected. As DJs, we control the vibe of the event, and the energy flows best when there’s genuine communication and connection with the audience.
6. What advice would you give to aspiring DJs trying to make their mark in today’s industry?
My biggest advice is — choose this profession for the right reasons. It may look glamorous from the outside, but it demands patience, dedication, and consistent effort. Your passion for music has to be the driving force. Many newcomers today chase the glamour and quick money, but that mindset won’t sustain a long-term career. True success comes only when you commit to your craft every single day.
7. What exciting projects or gigs do you have lined up next?
Right now, I’m working on several official remixes for Telugu movie songs, which is keeping me quite busy. I just wrapped up my Australia and New Zealand tour, and I’m preparing for the upcoming wedding season and year-end events. There’s a lot lined up, and I’m fully focused on giving my best for every project ahead.

DJ Ravish is one of India’s most celebrated Bollywood DJs, known for his electrifying performances and an impressive legacy in the live entertainment industry. A five-time winner of the Best DJ of Rajasthan title at the Rajasthan Fashion Awards (2018–2022), he has headlined some of the country’s biggest sporting and entertainment events.
With a long-standing association with the IPL, DJ Ravish served as the official DJ for the Rajasthan Royals from 2013 to 2018 and again in 2019, and most recently performed for Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2024. His achievements also include performances at major international cricket tournaments, including India vs Australia (2013), Pakistan vs Australia (2014), and Pakistan vs New Zealand (2014), along with the Women’s T20 Challenge (Women’s IPL) in 2019.
Recognized for his contribution to nightlife and entertainment in Rajasthan, DJ Ravish has earned the Best Male DJ title at the Best In Town Awards 2021 and the Best in Industry honor. He has been consistently voted among the Top 10 Bollywood DJs in India, featured in the Loofre Power List – Top 100 DJs in India (2019 & 2020), and listed among the Top 15 Wedding DJs in India by Band Bajaa Baraat Magazine.
