Hi. I am Rahul Dey from Kolkata, Duttapukur, North 24 pgs. I belong to a lower middle class family where educating yourself and being stable is the only way of living a perfect life. Like all parents, my parents too had lots of dreams about me But After my 9th standard I couldn't concentrate on my studies anymore and gradually I started searching my self in many creative ways. That was the time my parents started worrying about me and my future.
So, it all started after my 10th boards, it wasn't a pretty good result. My parents were not satisfied with my result. I became frustrated. Also the time was very bad for me because my mother passed away. Depressions were there with me all day and night. I became hopelessly blind. Anxieties of getting low marks on academics would shattered me out. I wanted to wake up, I wanted to do something, I wanted to become the person I want to be.
And then suddenly one morning.. I woke up, I made the decisions of my life, I said myself that those 9 to 5 jobs are not meant for me, I want to do something that I love from the core of my heart. I started questioning my self what are the things I love to do? What makes me happy? I knew little bit of dancing and acting and then I thought lets try something with all these and then the idea about YouTube came to my mind, I started writing scripts for my new YouTube channel (Rahul Dey). Since childhood I had huge interest on this platform, I even had one dance channel which is not that popular. I used to make dance videos in that channel. I continued that channel for one year and then I created 2 more but both were disappointing.
Then on 5th May, 2018 I started with this channel. Now it has 399K+ subscribers and I'm famously known as Boka Chondro. You can subscribe me at "Rahul Dey".
2. Is vlogging and YouTube content creation a financially sustainable career?
Yes it is, why not?
If you love to do video making then its full of self satisfaction where you can earn money as well. So yes, vlogging can be a passion as well as a profession.
3. Who is your favoutite creator and why?
My favourite creator is BB Ki Vines, his hardwork inspired me for doing this. His contents are simple and it's still the same thing he did three years ago. It’s all about a middle-class family and the problems we face every day and viewers could relate to it, easily.
He has inspired me a lot, when he started his YouTube channel he just had a phone, me too, but my one was broken, no one helped him in his journey and that's when I thought I also can do it .

4. What does you typical day look like?
Basically am in college, a 2nd year student, so typically since people started knowing me, I have been deprived of some of the freedom of my college life & normal life, but I try to do everything I like in my normal days such as dance, sports, etc. Wake up, eat, study, write script / edit / shoot, eat, sleep; it's like my daily routine.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
From my childhood I loved to do acting , I love cameras, drama and many more things that related to acting. So belonging to a lower middle class family YouTube is the best platform to showcase my talents in front of millions of audiences with zero cost. The ideas are natural to me.
6. Which is your favourite book and why?
Actually , I don't read much. Not a book lover but yes I like reading the works of Rabindranath Tagore. I have completed few of them.
7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?
If you have passion on this field then go for it, don't look for money, focus on the content. Don't think about what gadgets you're using, a mobile and a mike is enough for you. Remember that the content is always your weapon. People forget about everything if the content is great. All the best.
