1. Tell me about you and your journey.

I am a celebrity makeup artist and also a specialized pageant coach, fashion consultant and in prosthetics. I have been fascinated with makeup since childhood. I started my career while working with Rabhya, a well know brand having Karishma Kapoor as their Brand Ambassador.

I did numerous Ad-shoots and worked on the sets of many popular shows such as Savdhaan India, Crime Patrol, Mai Na Bhoolungi and various web series including, but not limited to, Hindustan Times’ Women Violence series, Star plus and the Life Ok channel.

2. Why did you choose this career?

I was enamoured by the charms of the Makeup and fashion industry since I was a child. I watched relevant content created by esteemed names like Stephen Dupois, Troy D'Souza, Subhash Shinde and Zuby Zohal and then decided to get into this field.

3. How can one build a clientele as a makeup artist?

Maintaining the high-quality standards along with great credibility earns you the trust, goodwill, and loyalty of customers and strengthens your clientele. Promoting your business through social platforms goes a long way in ensuring your work doesn't go unnoticed.

The more people observe your work, the higher percentage of people that approve of you and your work will get a chance to appreciate it.

4. What are some of your top makeup tips?

So following are the top makeup tips that I would like to advise:

1. Choosing the right type of product according to skin texture and tone is crucial. A bad product could make the most magnificent details of the works look ugly.

2. Skin preparation is essential before applying makeup.

3. The makeup should complement your outfit for maximum style points.

4. For light makeup, the absolute minimum amount of Base should be applied for a much more seemingly natural look, and for night makeups warm shades are the best.

5. What kind of job opportunities one can get after becoming a makeup artist?

After becoming a makeup artist, you can find work in television and film line, in-house work under numerous willing production houses, freelance for ad shoots, news channels and salons.

6. Which professional courses would you suggest for aspiring artists?

This depends on many factors, making it very difficult to suggest. It depends on your end goal, and the branch of the industry you want to specialise in.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

On the road by Jack Kerouac is one of my favourite books. It captures the essence of one specified era very well, with to the point and poignant pacing, the narrative goes racing towards the sunset with exuberance and passion.

8. What piece of advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?

I would say avoid lengthy courses at the beginning, go for short, brief courses so that you can form an opinion and get to know the industry before being too committed while keeping turning back as an open option.

Always reconsider the main motivation that nudged you towards this, you will have to keep that in mind when deciding on choices or working your way up the ranks as an independent artist.
Always give it your best, hard work always pays off.
