You Need to Have True and Unshakeable Belief in Yourself and Your Future Success - Palak Jaiswal (Actor)

The journey began with a spark of momentarily teenage anxiousness. It was when I competed, criticised and compared myself with others.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hi! I’m Palak Jaiswal, born in the city of lakes - Bhopal and later, shifted to the city of dreams - Mumbai, where I spent my teenage years and now continuing to live my all happy-complicated adult life.

I come from a very close-knitted family, where we have the freedom to believe in our dreams and I give undue credits to my parents for making my journey easy and comfortable. From guiding me-to-giving me, my own space, they really understood the importance of letting an individual be, but, of course, they’ve also been regular brown parents in terms of sanskars and moral policing.

Haha, But, it’s their undeniable support and trust which has caused me to have supreme faith in myself, it led me to believe that there will be, and there, already are endless opportunities that universe presents to us. I am someone who is away from worldly rules and ideologies, who trusts in the power of nature, without rules.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

No, not really. But it came under spotlight when I realised that nothing interested me more than this craft. Which was also after, my mom believed that I had the potential to become an actor.

So, I guess my mom dreamt my dream first. Although, the journey began with a spark of momentarily teenage anxiousness. It was when I competed, criticised and compared myself with others.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

The only way to approach your career is by learning and re-learning the craft and going through the stages of unavoidable failures, because this is the only path that leads you to your confidence and strengthens your belief and the relationship with the craft. It nourishes your individual bond with the art.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

No heartfelt career option apart from acting. But if I have to-have to, choose a career then it would probably be interior designing as we have the same family business.

5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

Be imaginative and observant because opportunities come knocking unannounced. It’s all about ample amount of patience while enhancing your skills.

6. What is your mantra of success?

My mantra of success is that you need to have true and unshakeable belief in yourself and your future success. Also, when you’re moving towards success, make sure you don’t leave those people behind who led you towards it.

It’s always the kindness and humility in you that inspires the universe.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

My “current” favourite book is Battling Injustice by Supriya Vani. This book gives an insight in the lives of 16 women Nobel peace laureates. I’m hooked on this one because I’m stunned and inspired by their strength, selflessness and kindness in making the world a better place for others.

They aren’t swayed by their personal failures or cascading lives. Their only motive is to make this world a better place for others. I always wonder about the magnificence of soul in such people. It has inspired and instilled a thought of humanitarian services in me.
