The story begins with the life of Tessa young when she is running late for her first day of internship at Vance Publishing where she meets Trevor Matthews. They face an awkward meeting in the elevator. Upon reaching office, she finds her cabin really dirty and cleans it up and then heads for the conference.
Later that night she gets drunk and kisses a random guy at the dance floor and ends up calling Hardin. She called him after a couple of months and he kept asking where she was. Then Trevor asks her if she wants to go back to the hotel.
They were spending time and Tessa unintentionally splashes red wine on his clothes. She forces him to take his clothes off so she can clean them. Hardin reaches the hotel to find her and then he finds Trevor naked with her. Trevor is successful in escaping safely from Hardin.
Tessa asks him why he came to her and had an argument and ended up giving Hardin two choices. In the morning they again had an argument and Tessa leaves him.
On her birthday she visits a place where they both spend months together. There was a present for Tessa from Hardin and she surprisingly met Hardin and his mom. Afterwards, they join Hardin’s dad’s Christmas celebration, where Hardin creates a scene because of their past.
Later they attend a house party with their old friends. They again played Truth and Dare, but this time Tessa took revenge from molly. They again had an argument and they both abused each other. Tessa leaves the party and goes back to the home while Hardin stays at the party overnight and his phone dies.
Tessa had an accident later in that day. Hardin tries to reach her but he fails. He calls Tessa and Trevor picks his call and says if you love Tessa leave her and don’t try to contact her. After sometime Hardin approaches her at Vance’s Function where their story takes a whole new way.
About the Author
Anna Renee Todd (born March 20, 1989) is an American author and screenwriter, who is best known for her After series. She started publishing on the social storytelling platform Watt-pad. Todd grew up in Dayton, Ohio.
She married her husband Jordan, an American soldier, when she was 18 years old and the two moved to Fort Hood, Texas, where she worked at a Waffle House and the makeup counter of ULTA Beauty. She has a son named Asher with her husband. She also has an older brother and younger sister.
She started by writing stories on her phone with the Watt-pad app in 2013, publishing a chapter almost daily for over a year. Todd wrote three books in the After series on Watt-pad.
In October 2014, Paramount Pictures acquired film rights to the After series with Offspring Entertainment set to produce

This book is the sequel of “After” and continues the rest of the story beautifully. It has also been adopted in a movie under the same name that got released in 2020.
In this book you find their relationship more toxic and erotic as compared to what we read in ‘After’. This opens the depth of their love for each other. This will introduce you to some new characters which helps them and resists them in being together again.

The character of Tessa and Hardin portrays two different personalities and beautifully portrays their different reactions in a similar situation i.e. the situation of love and reconsidering their relationship.
This book provides an emotional outlook of people in relationships who face betrayal, heartbreaks, pain and struggles for real love. This shows the emotional outlook of a couple who unintentionally gives each other a second chance and realises the depth of bond they actually shared and were unable to recognize.
