Morrie Schwartz was Mitch’s favorite professor at Brandeis university.Although sixteen years have passed since he passed his graduation day.

He says goodbye to Morrie and notices that he is crying as they hug. Mitch promises to stay in touch with Morrie but fails to do so. Morrie has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Sensing that death is near he begins jotting down his ideas and thoughts on scrap of paper.

He also writes on philosophies of life and death. One of Morrie’s friends becomes fascinated with his writings and sends them to a Boston globe reporter. The story gets the attention of one of the producers of the Night line show who produces his story.

Mitch happens to see the Night line show and recognizes his old professor. He calls him to arrange a visit. During their discussion (on every Tuesday) they talk on different topics like living, dying, love, relationship and many more.

With each meeting Mitch is learning valuable lessons of life but sees Morrie become increasingly sick. How long can these conversations continue? What lessons will Mitch take away from his Tuesdays with Morrie?

About the Book

Tuesdays With Morrie is a memoir by an American author Mitch Albom and it was published in 1997. This book is based on the movie Tuesdays with Morrie and it was released in 1995. It is a story of an old man and a young and their life changing conversation and many more. And the language of this book is very limpid and lucid.

The book topped the New York Times Nonfiction Bestsellers of 2000. There are a lot of things that Morrie has taught us. He really wants us to learn is to realize what is important to us,and that spreading compassion and love that makes us really happy. We can’t get real happiness from material things.

Psychological Analysis

Professor Morrie Schwartz speaks to his former student Mitch Albom about living, dying, relationship, love and etc. Mitch says him coach and Morrie says him Player. Their relationship is unparalleled. Morrie was suffering from a life threatening disease ALS but he was not afraid of dying.

He tells Mitch about various secrets of life. The disease destroyed his muscles, making him weaker and weaker day by day. He and his wife prepare for this new life. He starts opening up his home to visitors reaching out to everyone he knows. Meanwhile, Mitch has been living kind of a mediocre life.

He is pretty much a workaholic who doesn’t even have time for his wife. Luckily for Mitch, though, he happens to come across his old professor being interviewed by Night line on ABC. Mitch visits Morrie on every Tuesday. They are Tuesday people. They talked on different topics. Their relationship was more like father and son than teacher and student.

Finally on their fourteenth Tuesday, they have to say goodbye. Morrie can barely  raise his hand to give Mitch a hug. It’s a heartwarming farewell and I highly suggest you have a tissue or two when you reach this point. Morrie passes away a few days later. To finish up Mitch gives us his conclusion.

It’s a kind of retrospective on his “last class”with Morrie. His heart brims with gratitude for what Morrie did for him,and looking back, he only has one regret that he didn’t reach out to Morrie earlier, if he had they might have had more Tuesdays together.
