Who Is A Twin?
A twin is basically a clone of you with certain dissimilarities that makes them unique.
If two babies grow in a woman’s uterus at the same time, they’re known as “Twins” or two progenies are formed in the same pregnancy. They can either be monozygotic twins commonly referred to as “Identical twins” or dizygotic twins also known as “non-identical or fraternal twins”.
Dizygotic Or Fraternal Twins
Fraternal twins are also known as dizygotic twins. The upshot from the fertilization of two individual eggs during the same pregnancy. Fraternal twins may be of the same or distinct sexes, and they are a part of fifty percent of their genes.
Most of them are fraternal twins and have two different fathers. They may not be born on the same day; they might be polar opposites as well.
Identical Or Monozygotic Twin
Identical twins are also known as monozygotic twins. They result from the conception of one egg and one sperm. Identical twins have 99.9% similar DNA. They also have almost nearly similar brain signal patterns.
Facts About Twins
Each off-spring is formed in a separate egg and an individual egg is fertilized by its own sperm cell indeed. In rare cases, twins can have the same mother and different fathers which amuses most of us.

- Female-female twins: sometimes referred to as sororal twins and
- Male-male twins are sometimes called fraternal twins.
- Female-male twins, this is the most common pairing.
Myths About Twins
A usual myth is that twins frisk a generation, Genes don’t skip generations. The tale may have come up about the times the person with the twinning gene does not ovulate, so they don't produce multiple eggs resulting in twins.
A usual myth is that twins frisk a generation, Genes don’t skip generations. The tale may have come up about the times the person with the twinning gene does not ovulate, so they don't produce multiple eggs resulting in twins.
But, they may pass that gene along to their own children. If those children eventually ovulate, they may go on to have twins, causing the mirage that twins skip a generation.
By definition, twins have the same gestational parent. But, some twins can have different non-gestational parents as well. Since monozygotic twins form from the separation of one egg that is fertilized by a single sperm, they can only have one non-gestational parent. The frequency is unknown but presumed to be rare. It is also likely under-estimated.
Don’t we all know the very famous indisputable fact that each of us has a unique fingerprint? The feasibility of two people having identical fingerprints happens 1 in 64 million chances.

Twins are no exception from this undeniable fact, identical or fraternal, identical twins may have similar patterns but they can never be identical.
