Rohit Sharma

Creating a team of visionary leaders is quite a challenge for all start-ups; our story is no different. We overcame it by focusing on finding the candidates who had a will to work towards our vision and coaching them for the leadership along with proper nurturing & giving them creative freedom.

1.  Tell us more about yourself and your journey.

I am an Entrepreneur, Content Creator & as a Storyteller and to my journey, if I say, like every individual in India, who dreams of starting his own business, I also had the same plans that I'll start with a job and gain some experience in my field, which is Engineering.  Then, I'll start up with my business plan.

But I think destiny had some other plans.

So, in my 2nd year of engineering, I got an opportunity to work in the direct selling industry.  There, I gained a great on-field experience of business and trained myself in Marketing, Selling, Public speaking, and Leadership skills.

Further, I became a trainer in the above skills.

Meanwhile, I also kept on trying to launch various startups but failed.

In March 2020, I co-founded Bizgurukul along with Ritwiz Tiwari and Keshave Lal.

2.  How did you come up with the idea of Bizgurukul, and how did you go about executing it?

The idea came through Ritiwiz. He came up with this idea based on the future of our country, 2 years back, even today for that matter, India as a country had a huge scope in the online market, But the loop was that the youth of our country wasn't skilled enough for it. Hence, we were walking at the speed of a Turtle.

So, by then, we knew what we needed to do and for whom.

Afterward, we met Kesheve Lal sir and built the blueprint of this educational venture popularly known as Bizgururkul today.

When we started, we only had 2 courses to offer, which today has risen to over a 100 now, with 500+ training, 1.5 Lakh enrolments, and we're still counting.

Students are cracking job interviews, launching their own ventures, and earning as freelancers after learning from our education system, which focuses on their holistic development.

Along with education, we gave an option to our students to implement their skills by affiliating our courses and earning commission on the sales. This, too, helped create 1000s of success stories.

3. Which has been your biggest challenge that you faced, and how did you overcome that?

Creating a team of visionary leaders is quite a challenge for all start-ups; our story is no different. We overcame it by focusing on finding the candidates who had a will to work towards our vision and coaching them for the leadership along with proper nurturing & giving them creative freedom.

4. What are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?

Honestly, I believe that for a successful entrepreneur, it is important to have 4 qualities. i.e.

    ●  Strong vision- The entrepreneur must have a strong vision to achieve.

Aligning the team- One must be able to align the team with the company's vision.

Feedback & criticism- If you won't accept and acknowledge what others are saying, you won't be successful. One must be open to feedback & criticism.

A true businessman knows how to make improvements based on feedback from customers, marketers & even competitors.

Adaptability- If you're not working with an open mind, I'm sorry, my friend, you're not working right. Be willing to adapt with the changing market scenarios.

 5.  What are the most important factors for running a successful business?

It's a very simple answer, but many fail to understand it.

1. Connecting with your audience & team- Creating a strong brand story is important as brewing coffee while making coffee which helps build a strong connection with the target audience & team.

2. Listen to your customer- Listen to what they say, take feedback, and implement it.

3. Listen to your team- Make sure it is working well, but most importantly, be transparent with them. Listen to what they say, suggest, and solve their problems.

    4. Value system- Build a strong value system at the place of your work and both inside the company and outside while running the venture out in the market.

6 . What are your tips for first-time and aspiring entrepreneurs?

My tips for them would be,

Don't think too much, just start executing, go out & get your hands dirty. Thinking won't get you anywhere. Execution will.

Keep your eyes open to observe the market scenarios, trends, and responses to your product.

Keep your ears open to listen to your customers, their needs & feedback about your product.

Keep your mind open to learning, no matter how big you become.

Network as much as possible with big or small people in your industry.

7. How can one overcome a hurdle of lack of funds when starting up?

Go on social media and tell the world how your product can transform their lives by solving their problems. Share your brand story with the world.

Social media is free and has created millions of Rags to Riches stories, especially after the pandemic outbreak in 2020. Leverage its power.

Moreover, you can generate sales to reinvest your business for its growth and generate funds via crowdfunding. Also, network with more & more people to get ideas & support to grow your business even with minimum funds. Innovative thinking is the key.

8. What did your typical day look like when Bizgurukul was new?

Our mornings used to be about brainstorming & strategizing.

Followed by promoting the business on the ground level. Then conducting webinars & training in the afternoon & evening followed by creating & shooting for the product at night.

Late nights were about reviewing sales & other areas of business with the co-founders.  We have always treated Bizgurukul like our own baby and given it the due care.

9. What are some of the best career advice that you have ever received?

1. "Focus on being Great In what you do."

2. "There is never a Negative Result. There is just the feedback."

10. Was there any setback that you later realised was a stepping stone?

Yes, of course. Due to the lockdown of 2020, my training business and another 2-month-old venture came to a halt suddenly. But instead of being sad about it, I quickly adapted to the new circumstances and started working which helped us create an impeccable brand known as "Bizgurukul", amidst adverse situations nationwide. We were committed to making this happen. I can tell you it was the best decision of my life.

11. How to Build a Personal Brand?
