Nimkipu Lepcha is an educator and digital storyteller from Sikkim whose authentic glimpses into life at a boarding school have inspired a global audience. Through her work with children and her commitment to community development, she has become a powerful voice for kindness, resilience, and meaningful impact.
Q. People know you as a dedicated teacher who cares deeply for her students. Beyond that public image, how would you describe yourself as a person?
I would describe myself as a simple, caring, and hardworking person. I believe in kindness, honesty, and helping others whenever I can. Spending time with children, connecting with nature, and serving my community gives me a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment.Q. Your early videos felt like simple glimpses into everyday life. At what point did you realise that your content was resonating with people and inspiring them in ways you hadn't expected?
I realized it when people began reaching out to share how the videos made them feel. Many viewers told me that the content brought them peace, happiness, and hope. Others said it reminded them of the importance of kindness, gratitude, and appreciating life's simple moments. Those messages helped me understand that what I was sharing was connecting with people on a much deeper level than I had ever anticipated.
Q. Your videos often portray a warm and beautiful life surrounded by nature and children. However, every place and every journey has its challenges. What are some realities of life in Sikkim that people watching from afar may not fully understand?
Life in Sikkim is undoubtedly beautiful, but it comes with its own set of challenges. Many remote areas face transportation difficulties, unpredictable weather conditions, and limited access to resources. Everyday tasks that seem simple elsewhere can become significantly more difficult in mountainous regions.
Working with children in such environments requires patience, dedication, and consistent effort. While people often see the beauty of life here, they may not always see the resilience and hard work that make that life possible.
Q. Thousands of people follow your journey and feel emotionally connected to your content. Why do you think your stories and experiences resonate with so many people?
I believe people connect with authenticity.I simply share real moments from daily life without trying to create something artificial. The relationships between the children, the beauty of nature, and the small joys we experience every day are emotions that people everywhere can relate to.
No matter where we come from, kindness, connection, and hope are universal experiences. I think that is what resonates most strongly with viewers.
Q. Behind the cheerful moments and happy interactions with children that people see online, are there times when you feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or sad? How do you cope with those moments?
Yes, absolutely. Like everyone else, I have difficult days. There are times when I feel tired, worried, or overwhelmed by responsibilities. During those moments, I find comfort in nature. I spend time outdoors, reflect quietly, pray, and reconnect with the purpose behind my work.
The children are also a constant source of strength. Their smiles, resilience, and enthusiasm remind me why I started this journey in the first place and motivate me to keep moving forward.
Q. Stepping away from work and social media, is there a book, movie, or series that has had a meaningful impact on your life and remains a personal favorite or source of comfort? What makes it special to you?
I am drawn to stories that teach kindness, resilience, and compassion.Rather than having one specific favorite, I find inspiration in books and films that remind us of the importance of helping others and appreciating life's simple blessings. Those stories encourage me to remain positive, stay grounded, and continue serving my community with dedication.
The lessons they offer are timeless and continue to inspire me both personally and professionally.
