Have you ever noticed how a morning begins in a frenzy leading to a chaotic work day later? We all must have had instances of waking up late, skipping breakfast and bolting to the workplace hurriedly due to lack of time in the morning. One of the most effective ways of changing this pattern is to foster healthy habits in the morning so as to carve a path towards your goals.

Here are a few powerful ways to kickstart your day in an effective manner and prevent our hectic lifestyles from keeping us running frantically.

1. Count Your Blessings and Be Positive:

Mornings are a reflection of how you feel, act and introspect during the day. Gratitude is an empowering process of shifting your energies to positive thoughts and appreciating all little things that bring joy in life. It is an ideal morning ritual to begin your day on a positive note.

The drudgery of life and painful moments encountered by us often cause sadness making our moods dull. You must have observed how a single unpleasant thought in the morning no matter how insignificant it is can ruin your entire day. Therefore, it is imperative to be thankful for little things happening in life and resonate our mind’s frequencies with positivity in order to reinforce happiness.

Gratitude is one of the most underrated and overlooked rituals that we have access to. Researchers have shown that it reduces a multitude of toxic emotions, curbs depression and effectively brings delight. So, before you even get out of bed, think of all reasons that make you want to smile and the opportunities you are grateful for.

It does not matter how petty or small the thing you are appreciative of is. Acknowledge your family, health or whatever it is that shines your way and see how you feel throughout the day.

2. Be an Early-Riser:

Sometimes, waking up early can be extremely tough especially in winter when it is cold outside and you feel cozy in your blanket. You are not the only one tempted to hit snooze and go back to sleep on such mornings only to wake up groggier than before.

One should never underestimate the benefits of rising up earlier. It is one of the greatest virtues of successful people as they feel more productive during the early hours of the day. It also enables us to reflect on the tasks we want to complete and set the right tone for the latter part of the routine.

The bright, glistening sun rays in the early hours rejuvenate one's mind, help the body absorb nutrients and promote restorative sleep at night. Early mornings build a foundation for other rituals and enhance productivity. If you cultivate the habit of retiring to bed early and rising early, then you are more likely to be proactive during the day which leads to accomplishing goals in a successful manner.

3. Drink a Glass of Water With Lemon:

Lukewarm water with lemon squeezed in it on an empty stomach works wonders for the body and flushes out the unnecessary toxins that may have built during the night. It is a perfect way to kickstart your morning as lemon is a good source of Vitamin C and the most versatile citrus fruit.

Some of the proven health benefits of lemon water are an increase in metabolic rate due to proper digestion of food, provision of electrolytes to the body, reduction of joint and muscle pain, remedy for various skin problems and enhancement of the immune system. This ritual is one of the simplest things you can add to your daily routine in order to sufficiently hydrate yourself and maintain the pH balance of the body.

4. Stretch and Meditate:

Getting a good physical exercise and meditation is a crucial step in beginning our day on a healthy note. As most of us spend our time at work or in college sitting at one place with almost no movement, a morning stretch can be instrumental in energizing the muscles. Be it a jog at a nearby park, cardio training at the gym, gentle yoga at home or a walk in pleasant surroundings, some sort of activity is necessary to channelize the flow of blood and obstruct the flow of negative thoughts into the mind.

After sweating out, it is equally important to slow down the breathing, see how you feel and take a moment to reflect on your mind through the process of meditation. This makes you aware of your breath and existence enabling to focus positively throughout the day. No matter how lethargic you feel, get rid of your laziness and set your morning off on the right foot by incorporating this ritual in your daily life.

5. Visualize Your Goals For the Day:

One way to kickstart your morning in an effective way is to list down and get a visual of the tasks you want to complete during the day instead of launching yourself straight into work. This practice gives clarity about how to approach and prioritize your goals. Identifying the tasks helps you become organized and manage your time better.

What is important is to visualize yourself accomplishing the aims and tackling every possible hurdle that comes in your way. It helps you contemplate the possibilities ahead and strategically plan your action. This process of visualization generates a pool of positive thoughts that you manifest and helps you determine every event in advance through your thoughts. This science is elaborately expressed in the novel ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne.
