1. Tell us more about your roles and responsibilities at your college?

A college is a place where we meet new people, make friends, create memories, and explore many more things. I am a normal student in college attending classes, playing games, and participating in various activities. I started playing chess when I was in class 6th(2012) but never participated in any competitions. When I was in class 12th our principal offered me to play a game with him and I defeated him he told me that I am selected for the regional level.

After a couple of months our school sends our chess group to the regional level to compete with various schools, out of 55 schools I won a bronze medal and I was selected for the nationals to be held at Kalinga Institution of Industrial Technology, KIIT (Bhubaneswar)In July 2018 the national level competition took place it was a completely different experience and journey, I was feeling very proud of representing my whole region in such competition. Apart from our game we explore the whole Bhubaneswar and puri, visited temples, various beaches, and many more.

2. How did you rise up to your position and how can a student aspiring the same, approach it?

As I got selected for the regional level, I used to spend hours playing online chess, writing down techniques, tactics, and special moves which help me to understand the game and think of different ways to win the game. So basically, to achieve success and perform well you just have to be focused and determined.

3. What have been some of your biggest challenges and learnings from what you do?

There are many challenges and learning from this game which we can easily implement in our life as well, they are - not having a proper plan,  weakly developed at the starting stage, losing concentration, neglecting enemy or competitor plans, and learning from defeat.

4. What did you do in your current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?

Currently, I am a college student apart from college I spend time playing various outdoor games, learning new skills, reading books, and exploring things. I want to be a businessman and a part-time blogger so working on my dream and want to achieve as soon as possible.

5. What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

Yes, those who want some practical knowledge and experience should do an internship and attend conferences as it helps the particular student to groom well. It also helps students to develop new skills which they will never get in a classroom or by reading theory, it helps them to think creative and efficient.
