1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Well, I'm from an Engineering background and currently working in Abu Dhabi as a Lifting Equipment Surveyor. To be frank, I started photography as a hobby after our Europe vacation. Then  it started to grow on me

2. How and when did you realize your passion for photography?

We returned from our vacation with tons of pictures only to realize that most of them were either 'white washed' or dull, which made me think what went wrong. Later I deliberately kept aside few hours everyday for learning the whole photography process from youtube and skillshare videos. This made me really happy and wanting to learn more deeper into this field. I started devoting time on weekends to go out and shoot; Thus improving myself gradually as that is the only time you get to expand your passion being an expat in the UAE.

3. What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?

Being a hobbyist photographer, I don't consider myself in a position to give expert opinions. But if there’s one thing that has helped me improve, was to shoot outdoor as much as i can, different times of the day, and in many different locations. Practicing is the key. Find constant inspirations in the social media platforms like Instagram and 500px and capture as much as possible. You will definitely take your passion to the next level. As one of the most acclaimed photographer Henry Cartier Bresson quoted "Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst". Practice Practice and Practice

4. What are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer

Patience and Creativity. At least for me, I think being creative is the most important skill required for a photographer. A photographer can take wide variety of pictures from the same background if he develops his creative eye. Being said that, after clicking the shutter, if the photo made you happy, thats what matters and that's exactly what I expect from photography.

5. What are various opportunities available for aspiring photographers

Opportunities are everywhere. Create photographs of everyday things and subtle events. One of the fields where COVID-19 has affected the most could be Photography. Even though the current circumstance sounds difficult for a full time photographer, everything will be back to normal and passion should never dissipate. A passionate photographer will never fall short of opportunities and improvements.

6. Which is your favourite book and why?

I'm not a regular reader. But one book that really influenced me recently is 'The little book of Ikigai'. This made me realize how to find happiness in the little things that you do in life and to pursue your passion without seeking acceptance or appreciation. Any appreciation that you get is a bonus. Highly recommended if you want to have a warm read and get motivated reading a book.
