1. Tell us about your background and
journey.
I have always been an enthusiast looking
out for new experiences. Until last year, I used to surf youtube a lot, and
many creators amazed me with their work. The idea of starting my own youtube
channel fascinated me, but I didn't have a clear vision or the time to think in
that direction. Thanks to the lockdown, that I finally got ample of time in my
hands to implement a long lost idea.
So I uploaded or video on my channel by my
name Shreya Arora. After uploading 2-3 videos, I realized that this was
something I really enjoyed doing. I discovered a new side of myself that I was
completely ignorant of. Though I just post videos as a hobby as of now, it is
something that makes me really happy.
2. When did you first decide that you
wanted to create content and how did you start?
I did not have a professional set up. So I
shot the video on my mobile phone, edited it using a trial based software and
uploaded it. Surprisingly I got a pretty good response.
3. Are vlogging and YouTube content creation
a financially sustainable career?
For me, I am pursuing it just as a hobby as
of now and not as a source of livelihood. But in general, like any other
business, youtube content creation requires a lot of efforts, time, patience
and uniqueness. it does provide a stable financial career in the long run but
that requires hard work and patience.
4. Who is your favourite creator and why?
I get inspired by multiple creators. But my
favourite is Jenna Marbles and Lily Singh. I love the authenticity and
originality of their content.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to
churn out content?
I keenly observe the people around me and
the conversation I have. And anything that strikes to me as interesting and
weird, at the same time, becomes the theme for my next video. Since my content
revolves around day to day life scenarios, that really helps.
6. What does your typical day look like?
During the lockdown, a typical day in my life
would include reading a lot doing household chores, spending time to build my
skills via online courses, internship and observing thing happening around me
to generate ideas for content. Eating and sleeping is the most important of
all.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
I have been reading a lot lately. I am more
inclined to mystery and thrill based novel. "And then there none" by
Aagatha Christie is my favourite. I also have a huge Sydney Sheldon collection
amongst which "Mistress of the game" and "After the darkness"
are my absolute favourites.
8. What piece of advice would you like to
give to future and aspiring creators?
Though I am a beginner myself, the one
advise I would give to my fellow creators would be that be original and
authentic with your content. Create content that helps you to connect to with
yourself more than ever. Trust the process and eventually things will turn out
to be in your favour, not necessarily in the way planned them to but surely.
