1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hi everyone, My name is Claudette Ngwashi, I am a Registered Dental Assistant based in Calgary, Canada originally from Cameroon but cooking and sharing recipes are my passions, the reason being that I helped my mom a lot in her catering business which paid our school fees, so it made me attached to the kitchen a lot.

I am the 2nd of 5 kids, a wife and Mom. In my spare time I'm in the Kitchen cooking or spending time with my family. After a busy day, Family is what keeps me going.

2. What led you to do food blogging?

I decided to do food blogging because I want to share my recipes out there and encourage others about trying different types of dishes or recipes. And I LOVE WHAT I DO. They are very easy, simple and straightforward recipes for everyone to try out.

3. What does your typical day look like?

I am a Full Time Registered Dental Assistant in Canada and as a mom and wife, its a very busy and tiring one for me, because I have limited time creating recipes, cooking and caring for my family after a long day at work. Also sometimes, I am either editing and doing a voice over for my videos.

I write, and try out all my recipes before bringing it out there to the public. If a recipe doesn't turn out well, I have to adjust it so its perfect. I just wish a day was 30 hrs instead of 24 hrs so that I have enough time on my hands.

4. When did you first decide that you wanted to create and write content about food i.e. for blogging?

So one day I said to myself, I know a lot of recipes, why don't I share it out there? Then sometimes when my friends come visiting, they always see me busy in the kitchen and they are like "Why don't you open a YouTube channel or be a food blogger?". I will reply them saying "I think that will be a good idea".

Then I told my husband, I want to start a YouTube channel, he said I should watch videos on how to start and so on. I watched a lot of videos especially Nick Nimmin's videos, I learnt a lot from him. Then I started buying equipments like the Camera, Tripod, and the editing software.

Time to shoot my 1st Video, that was in April, I was shaking because I had to come out with a recipe, with the fear it might not work. But it turned out great. From there, I started having the urge to shoot more videos. In 3 months, I hit 1000 subscribers with my "Coconut Cake Recipe" which made me go viral, its is currently at 12,000 views now.

In summary, I started my YouTube channel on April 9, 2020 and COOKING WITH CLAUDY has 10,940 followers on Facebook, 1220 Subscribers on YouTube and 1600 Instagram followers. "SLOWLY BUT SURELY"

5. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?

Not really because I do intercontinental dishes and I love trying out different foods.

6. Which is your favourite book and why?

The HATING GAME. The story line just gets me all the time, i have read many times on and on.
