Crack Your Next Interview With These 7 Amazing Tips

Interviews are the stepping stones for our careers. As we all know, the first impression has a significant impact on our interviews. Many of us have the ability to crack a competitive exam in the first go but find it difficult to make it through the interview. This is mainly because of the lack of self-confidence and proper practice.

Interviews can be a bit frightening if the candidate has not taken any efforts to face it. A good interview can lead the board members to hire the candidate without much thought. But if the performance is poor, they can reject you at the very moment no matter the qualifications you possess. So, the interview session is crucial to the success of any individual. HR associates do not go just by the number of degrees you've earned but also note whether or not you're practical and flexible in your approach.

Here are some tips to face the interview with ease -

1. Your CV Is the Key to Success

Prepare an excellent resume. Re-read it and prepare how to deal with counter questions. The resume gives the board members a vague idea of your interests, strengths, and weaknesses. It is on the resume that interviewers frame the majority of the questions and try to gather information about your qualifications and prior working experience.

2. Research a Bit

Make a study of the company, about its ups and downs and forte. Think of how you can, with your qualifications and talents, contribute to its welfare and growth. It is very important that you talk about it before the board members.

3. Try to Look Pleasing and Formal

Never choose a gaudy dress or any kind of party wear while going for an interview. Even though, as the popular saying goes, ‘Never judge a book by its cover, ’ in the case of an interview, your dress code matters a lot.

4. Be Punctual

The first basic work ethic is to respect yours as well as other's time. Wake up and freshen up early. Do not expect anybody to pull you out of the bed at the eleventh hour. You cannot act like a superman and get done with the interview, especially if you’re anxiety-ridden. Reach the place at least an hour before the interview. Get acquainted with your surroundings. You can also have a chit chat with other candidates. This helps you to relax a bit and release your tension and anxiety.

5. Be Friendly

Keep a smile on your face. Never let your face express your stress or fear. Give the board members a shake-hand even if they do not initiate it. This is basic etiquette to be followed wherever you go. Greet them and make yourself comfortable on the seat and maintain a straight posture.

6. Control Your Emotions

It is quite natural to experience fear and restlessness, especially before your first interview. If you feel that your hands are shivering, cross your fingers and place it on your lap. Do not tighten the grip bringing it in the notice of the board members. Do not hold your breath or breathe heavily. Try to appear cool and pleasant. Do not place your hands on the table or tap your fingers on it.

7. Speak Politely and Clearly

It is obvious that you would have to introduce yourself to the board members. Prepare beforehand about what you need to say about yourself. Make it concise and brief. Talk very politely and maintain a good pace. Never speak too slowly or make it too hasty. Also, make sure you don’t waste time concentrating too much on irrelevant matters.

In the end, tell yourself that this is not going to be the end of the story. When one door closes, you will have millions of doors opened before you. After all, failures are the stepping stones to success. Congratulate yourself for having tried your best. Also, rewind the interview session and understand where you need to improve. You learn from your experiences. Hence, you will always get better with each experience.
