1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I’m Bipasha Banikya from the land of blue hills and the red river that is Assam. A small-town girl with big dreams. Apart from being a fashion influencer, I’m a trained Bharat Natyam dancer and a national swimmer as well.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

Initially, it was all for fun. I love to be in front of the camera. I love innovating and expressing the creative genius that resides within me. It all started for the love of creating and playing with the camera.

I was doing shoots for fun for almost a year and got a very good response on all my posts from my audience. Fortunately one day a brand approached me for a barter deal and that’s how it all started as a business.

I mostly talk about beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. I want to break this existing notion that you need to be rich to look fashionable. To be fashionable you need only two things that are creativity and innovation, not the money of course.

3. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

A blogger is someone with a website where they host a blog and publish their content. An influencer is someone with an online platform who has a massive following and therefore a large impact on an audience's buying decisions. Not all bloggers are influencers. Not all influencers are bloggers.

4. What do you think influences consumer behavior?

I believe that faith is the requirement of certain things that makes a consumer go for that certain product. Brand image, quality of the product, the concept of the product, pricing, and reviews of the product influences consumer behavior.

5. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

See, in the nascent phase of your career, I won’t say it will be financially stable because there is skyrocketing competition in the market and you need to stand out and demarcate yourself form the rest.

But yes, if you make your name in the industry with your good work then definitely it is financially sustainable. It all depends on you.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Consistency and hard work along with smart work is my mantra to success.

7. How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

I really don’t think I deserve to answer this question as I’m still climbing the ladder and hoping to be the shining light of the industry someday. One advice I can give to the aspiring content creators if you want to start it, start now, don’t wait. And be consistent and creative. Don’t refrain from being remarkable.
