If you would have to introduce yourself in a gist, what all will you include about yourself?
Hello, this is Ena. People know me as an Instagram Model, Social media influencer, Fashion blogger. But now I am going to tell you who I am actually. I am doing my Post graduation in Mass Communication. I am a painter too.
What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
This question is interesting to me. Before last year I had no idea about social media influencing. I had no Instagram account. When I started my first Instagram account last year in February I was introduced with Instagram Influencing. But I had no idea how to be in it. I used to stalk every models, influencers, makeup artist how they carry themselves. And then I posted a normal picture of mine for Instagram. My first post on Instagram. For everyone it is a very normal thing but not for me. The next day when I opened my Instagram I saw my numbers of followers were around 90k which was 1000 only a day back. I was shocked. People were loving my pictures and making it viral. My Instagram account became a page. I realized people were loving my fashion sense and the way I was carrying my style. So my first Instagram page was about Fashion - Beauty products - Lifestyle.
How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
Yea there are a lot of differences between ‘A Blogger’ and ‘An Influencer’. Usually, people cannot differentiate between them. I am an Influencer, not a blogger. Mainly the difference is a blogger is someone with a website where they host a blog and publish their own original, valuable content. An influencer is someone with an online platform who has a massive following and therefore a large impact on an audience's buying decisions. Not all bloggers are influencers. I am an Instagram Influencer. I influence daily followers to buy a product or I suggest to them what to buy to appear like an Influencer in their daily life.
Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
Yes of course! Nowadays Social media is a big platform to earn. Because this is no more an era of reading fashion journals. Everyone wants to know the trend. All want to look unique and fashionable. They follow us to know what is trending and what will suit them. You can’t get the proper review from a television advertisement. Or you can’t afford any celebrity stylist for yourself. So people love to get a review from us. So brands want influencers to promote them on Online platforms. And they pay well for the ad. It depends on your followers and engagements how much will you earn. As an Influencer my all posts are sponsored. And also we get invited to fashion shows and events. Well, known stores brands invite us to promote them. These all are paid. Top influencers on Instagram are paid a million dollars for a sponsored post. It may sound like a dream, but yes, the influencer marketing industry is estimated to hit $ 10 billion by 2020 and the successful influencers are indeed making big money on the platform. And if you are new in influencing the world, do not worry you can earn well if you handle the business part properly.
What do you think influences consumer behavior?
Consumer behavior is influenced by four major factors which are Culture, Social, Personal, and Psychological. These factors cause consumers to develop products and brand preference. Now let’s talk about the factors. Culture, it’s like a social class system. Social, it’s like family, roles, and status. Peer groups, from family and friends to social media influence. This factor also includes social class, income, and education level. Thirdly, personal, this can be age and life cycle stage, occupation, economic circumstances, lifestyle, personality, and self-concept. A person’s interests and opinions. These will be affected by demographics such as age, gender, culture, profession, background, and so on, and lastly, Psychological, we count motivation, perception, learning, beliefs, and attitudes. Now how to study consumer’s behavior? The answer is how consumers think and feel about different alternatives brands, products, services, and retailers. The behavior of consumers while researching and shopping. How marketing campaigns can be adapted and improved to more effectively influence the consumer. How consumer behavior is influenced by their environment.
Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
I am working as an influencer for the last one year. I noticed for influencers Likes matter more than their content. People want to gain Likes. Many influencers ask me “could you please suggest how to gain followers and Likes. Because I am working so hard to create good contents but I get very few likes. I can’t understand they are liking my contents or not. And Brands are also not interested in my Instagram because I get a few numbers of likes.” I kept thinking about it. I don’t want to hurt anybody but yes I noticed some very good content creators get minimum likes but people who don’t have a minimum idea about influencing and how to create good content are getting a huge number of likes on Instagram for their shit posting. This is really discouraging young talents. Even whenever we click photos for a brand and the moment we decide to upload them we take hours to select them. As we take photos and decide which to post, we always ask the question, "Will this perform well?" And if it doesn't, we take it personally. Influencers often have an emotional tie to the images they create, so when that ideal number isn't hit, we interpret the lower like count to mean that our content isn't up to par. The brand will count your Likes, not your content. So when Instagram announced that it is beginning to test removing likes from the platform worldwide, my immediate reaction was a positive one.
Which is your favorite book and why?
People won’t believe it but I have a good book collection. But when it is about my favorite list I must say last year I read The Silent patient by Alex Michaelides. I loved it. I like thrillers and mysterious stories the most. I suggest to you too.
What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
My grandmom used to tell me success isn’t how much money you earn. Success is how much respect and love you earn. My idea of success is just me living a humble happy life surrounded by those that I love, and having the freedom to do what I love. I have a desire list. And if I fulfill all my desires I will count it as my success.
