Insights on Instagram by an Influencer: Sukrit Jain

1. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
My love for food made me start this page. However, we started off with party vlogging first, which didn't go well. Then, we decided to do something crazy and that's how our page, Thegreatindianfoodie, had its inception.

2. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
Since the word “Blogger” is ‘Blog’ + ‘er.’ A blogger is the one who writes about food and has a website whereas influencers are the ones who let people know what is good and what is not. Many people think influencers are bloggers, but they are wrong, since, influencers, as the name suggests, influence people.

3. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
It completely depends upon you, how you take your profession. It depends on you whether you want to be a freeloader or wanna do something different. Remember, that you've worked hard to get those followers who look up to you and your tips for certain decisions.

4. What do you think influences consumer behavior?
Honestly, each person has their own mindset and it is difficult to make people understand each and everything. For example, some people may or may not like the concept of Chocolate Ball or Rasgulla Chaat. So, it depends on person to person.

5. Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
Ideally, it is good and it will definitely make influencers attain a state of peace of mind. Everyday you cry about your engagement getting low or getting high. And even your discussions are dominated with dialogues like, “bhai likes nae aare. But, that is not the only thing left in life. If you socialize with people and not with respect to social media, but in the sense that you meet and socialize with people to know what better can be done, it will be of great help to you.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
To be HAPPY is the main thing. Never be disheartened. It's okay if you're not able to achieve those targets. Your future has something different and something better planned for you and that “better” is yet to come.

Hi, my name is Sukrit Jain. So basically, I am a graduate of Amity University and my brother is a graduate of Manav Rachna University. We both run this page together. Being a food lover, I lived off my life as a Food Vlogger. Later on, my brother Kashish joined me as well, after taking a bold step of quitting his 9-11 job.
