Insights on Instagram by an Influencer: Aneez Mohammed

What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
My page ( @aneezv ) focuses on content creation- mainly photography and minimalism.
The only reason I started the page was that I was extremely passionate about photography and wanted to leave my mark.
People are talented in different fields and my calling was snapping photos from different perspectives; minimalism wasn't really prevalent in India when I started off my page and it seemed like the perfect form of art to convey my stories and it eventually started taking off.
So, my current page is a product of years of all my creative endeavors.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
About the terms 'blogger' and 'influencer', they seem similar but I believe that they are inherently different and to an extent, depend on the number of one's followers.
Anyone who blogs is a blogger, their blogs can be focused on different categories- food, tech, fitness, lifestyle, etc. When these bloggers have a reach or can actually bring about an impact on a large number of people in a society, they'd be termed as an 'influencer' -or at least that's what I think.
All of this aside, I wouldn't put myself under either category because I'm someone who tries to focus more on my art and the content I put forward for my audience, and because of that I would prefer the term content creator over the others.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
With the digital sphere racing, virtual worlds and job opportunities related to them definitely have an upper hand. Producers no longer spend money on TV advertisements and hoardings but instead focus on social media campaigns and rely on influencers to promote their products because that way, it only costs them 1/4th of the amount they spend on other forms of campaigning; but at the same time has four times more the impact.
Hence, I believe that being an influencer has a lot of potentials and is financially befitting and sustainable for anyone that is dedicated enough to pursue it.

What do you think influences consumer behavior?
Consumer behavior is dependent on a lot of factors like money, current trends, peer groups, individual tastes, etc.
I think the strongest tool in marketing or consumer consumption is recommendations or word of mouth.
Especially when a particular product is tried, tested, and reviewed by an "influencer" it has a greater impact and the need of acquiring the particular product arises within the minds of the audience. I believe that this too plays an important role in influencing consumer behavior.

Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
Instagram removing their likes, has both merits and demerits. By removing likes, the content and art stand on its own, for what it is, without being judged by who liked them or how many people liked them. At the same time, it also helps give clear judgment to the creator and makes him/her realize what their audience likes and can create similar content that is appealing for them.
For someone focusing on their content, work, and form of art it doesn't really matter if the 'likes' exist or not. They'll be indifferent to it.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
I believe that 'success' cannot be limited to fame. It is much more than that when you find something that you're truly passionate about and dedicate your time for the same which in turn gives you a sense of belonging and accomplishment, which is a success. To be true to yourself.
In short, I found my passion, worked hard, and believed in myself and that is what kept me going.
As long as you stick with what you love, success will find you.

I'm Aneez Mohammed, an influencer from India, visual communications graduate, and a passionate photographer with rather unusual perspectives.
Photography spiked my interest from a very young age and that's how I ended up dangling over the rails for the gram. Minimalism is my forte and I believe that less is _always_ more.
Worked hard with content creation and Instagram has truly played a crucial role in helping me develop as an artist and creator. To interact, learn, and inspire people from across the globe.
