Insights on Instagram by an Influencer: Anikait Luthra

1. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
I have always had this never-ending urge to explore new things, new places, new dishes, new cuisines, and, perhaps, new stories as well. Then, one day, there was a conference in college where people with unconventional careers came and spoke about their fields and struggles, that’s when it struck me to start something of my own too. Since I was a big food enthusiast and used to post pictures and videos on Snapchat and on other personal Social Media Accounts, I decided to make a page dedicated to this. Initially, I wanted to cover everything, but then, I stuck more with food and came up with a Food Blogging page. Although on other platforms, be it YouTube or Facebook, we cover Travel and Lifestyle as well.
2. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
What I feel is that a Blogger writes for his/her passion. A Blogger wants to expand his/her knowledge and the knowledge base of his/her readers. The aim of bloggers is to give a new perspective to the things they are writing about. Also, it is more of a very personal segment while an Influencer gives an idea to the audience about the product they are posting about. Their aim is to post content in such a way that they can make their audience feel about something in a certain way. An influencer has so many platforms to post content whereas a blogger might lack in those.
3. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
Be it an influencer or any other professional, hard work, perseverance, and dedication are the most important things. Yes, there is a lot of competition and the struggle is immense, but if you are true to your work, you can be creative and innovative in your own way, and then this career can be Financially Stable as well.
4. Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
I think it is not a positive step because as an influencer the engagement is a big factor of how Brands approach us and how we collaborate with them and if we can’t show them the exact details, then it makes it a big risk to sustain easily. Not just for us, but for everyone who had made it their Full-Time profession.

5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
Honestly, “Success” is a very subjective term. The parameters and levels are different for everyone. So, there are a couple of things we need to abide by. Patience is the key, you won’t get 100k followers in a day or in a week or a month, so keep working and never Beg in front of anyone, don’t ask anyone to like your picture or to follow you. Let your work speak. If it’s good, it will get recognition. I understand it is easier said than done but, hey, I am doing it so it’s worth a try!
