Insights on Instagram by an Influencer: Mamta Dagar

What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

I gram my fitness and fashion stories. It’s all about being yourself and not fall for fashion and diet trends.

I believe it should be sustainable. Your food habits and your styling sense too. Copying the fashion trend is not my thing and nor it should happen.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

A blogger and Influencer are two complete different jobs. Blogging could be a full time job for someone as they are supposed to document the information.

An Influencer does the same but an Influencer has that extra responsibility on shoulders that people should idealize their idea else that’s just the documented piece of information.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

One can make living by this profession if they are honest about their work and believe in themselves still I doubt about its sustainability.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

It is an open platform where people see you from their perspective and expect you to behave at a certain way. If they like it, they like it else they will not hesitate to write negative things or troll you.

Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.

It has its benefits and side effects too as removing likes can make the marketers job tough. We have to accept the fact that now Instagram is no more just documenting the fun or memories platform. There is so much competition in brands so in the creators.

Showing number of likes and comments can help in showing what kind of audience you have, how much they idealize you else there will be no difference in person A and D. About the mental health, even 9-5 jobs gives the stress so are we going to stop working?

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

I see my success in terms of how happy I am in life and what difference I can make in this world. Am I capable enough to help someone out there who needs me? If yes, I am successful :)

I am sports nutritionist and an ex-software engineer and a fitness enthusiast.
