1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hello! I am Dr. Nikita Lodha from Ahmednagar a tier 3 city of Maharashtra. I am the only Doctor in a Business family of eighty people. I was a nerd since the beginning, but my parents made sure that I engage myself in extracurricular activities like sports and creativity. I loved to read science and after 12th standard I gave about fifteen entrance examination when I decided to be a doctor.

I have done BDS from Bharathi Vidyapeeth Dental college, Pune. I have completed diploma in Smile Designing from NYU, New York followed by Fellowship in contemporary Endodontics from D Y Patil school of dentistry, Mumbai. The life of a medical side student is never easy, right for finding patients on streets and slums for examination, to sleepless nights studying for months during exams, we go through all of it.

In the first year of my graduation, my parents got 2 boxes of toothpastes and toothbrushes and asked me to go and distribute them to an orphanage near my house. When I went there, I explained them a proper way of brushing teeth and the importance of oral hygiene. Starting from that day, I conducted more than 200 oral camps with 11 thousand children with special abilities and orphans all in rural areas and villages near Ahmednagar.

I never wanted to limit myself in the four walls of a clinic doing the same thing by colleagues were doing. I wanted to do something about the number of qualities I had to offer, which were inside of me, so I started writing about my thoughts and health and beauty columns on my first blog which was called Peacebeautylove in 2016. I started writing for Lokmat Times in October 2016 immediately after my dad’s death, divorce, 3 months in depression and being rejected by a family member to work as a dentist in a hospital we were trustee of. I have practiced in several corporate and private clinics.

I am a Medical Content creator and I write content for some of International Companies. In these tough times I started taking an online consultation on Nutrition, holistic wellness, skin care and dentistry. I have visited 32 countries.

My father trusted me blindly with my decisions was not at all narrow minded even though he was a part of a traditional joint family. He was a Brilliant boy who studies in a municipality school and wanted to become a chartered Accountant but could not afford the education. My Dadaji dies when my father was 10 years old and that is when my father started working. Because of the openness and progressive thinking, I never got into any bad stuff because I also wanted to be a good daughter to my good parents. I was always inspired by how far my father has come. Each day I wake up to a thought that life is short, I must make something out of this time on earth.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

My Instagram page @doctor.nikita is about health as whole. I post about Natural medicines, organic farming, mix of modern and traditional diagnosis to any disease.

3. What is your fitness mantra?

There are three things that I follow:

  • Intermittent fasting,
  • Minimum snacking, and
  • A good workout in the gym.

4. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

It depends on how you divert your following into your clients, how genuine and true you are to yourself first. There is a growing scope for content creators in India but only to the consistent and genuine ones.

5. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Healthy lifestyle- Eat veggies and salad first before any meal, mediate start with 10 min each day, eat clean, and stay in touch with your true friends- talk it out to share your feelings. Stay away from the constant media of todays generation which notifies you every second with depressing news every now and then.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Success for me is not about how many followers or likes I have on Instagram. Success is about my achievements, relations, and my contribution to society. I do not believe in overnight success and I never wish for the same. The journey of Success is slow, tiering and a lot of struggle for years. There is no problem if you are doing family business too. If you are into family business, make sure you be a good heir and take that business to the next level. Whatever you are, just be a good one.

7. How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Do not apply short cuts or buy fake followers don’t try to use trending apps if you want to be successful, instead do something meaningful, stick to a cause and see the success by being focused on your end goal.

Never be ashamed to do the smallest of work at your workplace or at home and do not let any fame get into your head- stay grounded.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

1. Gut- GIULIA ENDERS

Bible for Doctors and health professionals or if you are someone who wants to recover from a chronic illness, lose weight and understand your body better.

2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a fuck- MARK MANSON.

Life is not a bed of roses and this book is as real as life, period! Its addresses harsh truth, dealing with real life problems and accepting yourself.
