1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

I am Inpreet Kaur popularly known as Letteringbuff over Instagram. I am born and raised in Haldwani a city sitting in the laps of beautiful Uttarakhand. I am a commerce graduate and continued to an MBA in finance.

Talking about my journey, which started during the second year of graduation itself majorly through Instagram. Every another day I would come across various artwork and calligraphy pages which I found fascinating and thus started myself.

Initially, it was just something that fascinated me which eventually turned to my passion every day. I use to watch several videos on Instagram researched a lot on YouTube and just kept making artwork kept practicing. Since I am self-taught calligraphy and watercolor artist, it took a lot of time, patience, and practice.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be a Calligrapher/illustrator?

Calligraphy to me happened more by chance and less by choice which sure turned to be my most prioritized choice.

Initially, I use to follow a lot of calligraphy pages and even imitate their style and ended up making my own style and that sense of owning a style exclusively yours pushed me to love this art head over heals.

I found myself working tirelessly for hours and whatever I created brought a smile to my face however big or small it was.

3. Is it a financially stable career?

Considering financial stability, art doesn't serve you with that first thing, it is never an assured thing that your artwork would be sold in a definite period of time there is much of sunshine when one is loaded with orders which takes you to cloud nine and then there are gloomy days.

4. Who is your favorite Calligrapher /illustrator and why?

There are many artists whose work I adore and admires me.

But to state specifically, it surely is these two names first to be Kamaljeet Kaur Ma'am, Calligraphy by Kamaljeet (Instagram handle), she has been in this field for over a decade now and her personal style is impeccable.

The other totally favorite fellow is Sir Inkucalligraphy (Instagram handle). He incredibly serves all styles of calligraphy and one learns so much from his tricks and techniques.

5. Where do you get inspired to create art?

The biggest inspiration for me to create art is the creative people around. All my fellow artist friends inspire me a lot there is just so much art on Instagram, so many people, and pages to learn from which is more than enough to boost you up.

Secondly, the surroundings. I create art every single day. Anything and everything around me is an inspiration I draw literally whatever beauty I see around and it just happens it’s the aura that feels you with the vivid feeling to just do it.

6. What kind of book do you prefer to read?

Even my reading is inspired by the art I like to read all that which is directly or indirectly related to art it makes my love for art grow fonder and more knowledge is always a boon. Some of my latest readings are Show your Work by Austin Kleon and Creative Confidence by Tom Kelly and David Kelley.

7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring Calligraphers/illustrators?

The only advice to the future aspiring Calligraphers/Illustrators is just remembered to be Consistent, Confident, and Connected.

Consistency is the key, just keep on doing your art keep practicing keep working hard for it. Irrespective of the fact, if your work is yet being highlighted or not. Because one day it will.

Whenever I personally practice it's always about improvement and learning more and never for when it will be appreciated because if it's good enough it will make its place, your work speaks for itself.

You need to be confident in your work definitely welcome constructive criticism but never be bothered about what people say or how they judge your work only you know the time and energy you spent on it so make it count.

It is extremely important to be connected to your field so it's not just hard work but also smart work. Every now and then there is a new technology, a new style introduced; you need to be updated and adapt accordingly. More importantly, your work must make you happy rest everything falls in line.
