Pre-requisites before you play Xbox games on your phone
- A Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription which costs around $14.99. With this subscription you can download a vast catalogue of games on your Xbox or PC and also Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer access and huge discounts on games.
- A Android device supporting version 6.0 Marshmallow and above, and Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. Your phone must have Google Play Services installed to download Xbox Games Pass app.
- A pairable and compatible controller to connect over your phone's Bluetooth or USB. There are many Xcloud specific controller launched, specially for Xcloud game streaming such as the Razer's Kishi controller. This controller has a clip mount for your phone so you don't need to buy one separately.
- You can also attach a DualShock 4 and Xbox Wireless controller with Bluetooth or USB. But, you will have to buy a compatible clip mount separately.
- A fast WiFi or cellular connection. You should have a solid connection with at-least 10 Mbps of speed for smooth gaming experience.
How to download the Xbox Game Pass app
Before Xbox Game Pass app was launched as a stable version, it was launched on play store for beta testing with a white background in its icon.
To download Xbox Game Pass stable version of the app, just head towards your android play store and search for 'Xbox Game Pass' and you will find one with a green background. Don't download the one with the white background as it is still for beta testing.
Login to your Microsoft account on Xbox Game Pass app.
Connect your controller
Connect your DualShock4, Xbox wireless or any other third party Xcloud compatible controller through USB or Bluetooth.
To connect your controller, either connect it directly over Bluetooth or USB via direct connection through wires.
Launch App and boot games
After signing in to your Microsoft account, you are ready to play games on your phones.
Logging into your app, you will see a 'Cloud' option on the upper left side of your Xbox Game Pass app's home screen. Just click it and you will see tons of games right below the mode selector.
Click one of them and you are ready to play the game. You can play it online by tapping the play button. It will take some time to boot into your game and when it is done, you can have the same experience as a Xbox console on your phone, anywhere in the world.
If you have your game installed on the PC or Xbox before, the data will be automatically synchronized into your game progress on your PC or Xbox.
