If the Plan Doesn't Work Change the Plan Not the Goal - Tanya Choudhury

The secret is that nobody is going to motivate you. You are going to have ppl who doubt you or put you down. It's you. If not you then who? If not now then when? So yes improve little by little every day, even if there's a bad flood or a global pandemic, it's never unproductive unless we want it to be. When there's no work just take care of yourself, work on your body and mind, prepare yourself for big things on days that seem gloomy or unproductive

Tell us about your background and journey.

I've completed my schooling in Bangalore and moved to Hyderabad after and graduated in business. During a cold event, somebody noticed me from the film industry and offered me a designer photoshoot and that's where it all started.

As an upcoming actress, without a filmy background, life gets a little stressful sometimes with ppl from the industry asking you for commitments etc.

I started my acting career 2 years ago from short films and currently doing a few web series and a feature film.

There are a lot of expectations from an actress. We are supposed to look beautiful all through the day even if the shoot starts from 5am to 12pm, we are supposed to have fat in the right places, we are supposed to be tall, have the perfect skin in spite of wearing a ton of makeup 24*7. we are constantly judged and if we lack any of the above we are made fun of and in spite of such high expectations, we are paid less compared to the effort we put in.

No complaints anyway,, I'm in fact grateful to have worked with amazing people and having a family that is supportive at all phases for which I'm at a very good place.

Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

No, never did actually. Life bought me here. Looks like the universe has its own sweet plans for everyone, and I'm glad this field chose me and I accepted it wholeheartedly.

How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

There's a quote which says, " if the plan doesn't work change the plan not the goal". See there's nothing guaranteed in life, it's the chances we take and the hard work we put in each day little by little. Nobody can teach you how to be confident or how to be a great actor. It all comes from within.

For me personally, I've never gone to an acting school, I've been offered short films in the beginning and learnt like that, I'm still learning every day.

Meditation helps me to calm down and listen to myself better.

If, not this, what would you be doing?

If not this, I would want to start off some sort of business as I'm a business student. Which I will someday (hopefully soon)

For a complete outsider without inroads, what advice would you like to give?

I'm an outsider myself and it is definitely a bumpy road, behind all the glitz n glamour, you tend to start doubting yourself, losing friends as you cannot give much time, and get demotivated every now and then. It's normal, don't be scared.

Just remember to take one day at a time, work on yourself, be it physically or mentally, or pick up a new skill and have at least a person who listens to you without being judgemental be it your mom/dad/bro/sis or a friend.

And learn to accept that it's okay not to be okay sometimes. Don't give in to situations or ppl that may seem unfair or not right to you as a human be it for personal or professional reasons.

Always respect and consider the decision your mother, father make for you.

Which is your favourite book and why?

It will be " The secret, by Rhonda Bryne" as I've applied the law of attraction in my life and continue to do so and it really works if you've pure belief and intentions.
