Time Management Is Key, and Learning to Balance Work and Personal Life Should Be High on the Priority List - Rashi Goil

Rashi Goil

Amidst all the appreciation from the Sarto community, I’ve learnt the importance of being confident in my product and defending it well when criticism goes past being constructive.

1. Tell us in brief about your brand and your journey.

Elevating basic clothing by reinventing wardrobe staples is the essence of Sarto. Our focus primarily remains on providing premium quality garments that pamper all sizes, and our superior fabric & craftsmanship. Following our signature embroidery designs, we are now set to launch our gifting range including cushions, personalized kits, bags and a lot more!

Sarto started 4 years ago with the idea of creating a comfortable, high quality, trendy yet classic white shirt. Following the monochrome aesthetic, over the years we added wardrobe basics like T-shirts and sweatshirts, and recently took a step towards sustainability with our new khadi collection, Love letter to the earth.

2. Tell us more about your latest collection & upcoming ones?

Our latest collection, Love letter to the earth, is our first step towards sustainability. I began exploring ways in which I could incorporate sustainable practices in our production, and create the right awareness for the same. Khadi was an obvious choice, keeping in line with our indigenous inclination. While the collection was initially designed focusing on travel friendly summer silhouettes like fun dresses and co-ord sets, owing to the global situation, we added some more relaxed designs that work well for 2020!

As the world suddenly became more considerate towards the environment, #LoveLetterToTheEarth has become even more relevant. We are now working on our gifting range as a new vertical for Sarto that will feature cushions, personalised kits, masks, tote bags, etc that will make gifting a very easy and fun process!

Along with this, an exclusive collection of relevant and quirky embroidery designs, and hoodies for winter are coming in the month of November!

3. What has been your biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome that?

Amidst all the appreciation from the Sarto community, I’ve learnt the importance of being confident in my product and defending it well when criticism goes past being constructive. Offering the customization feature, often meant dealing with difficult clients.

Turning down some outlandish demands was very tough and unsettling initially as some interactions were very hurtful and demotivating. I’ve learnt that while not everyone might be the kindest, I have to do my job standing up for my team, and Sarto, in a professional and graceful manner. A clear channel of communication goes a long way!

4. What do you think are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?

Perseverance, patience, and the ability to incorporate valuable feedback (that is often disguised as criticism) are qualities that every successful entrepreneur must strive to achieve.

5.What are your tips for first time and aspiring entrepreneurs?

We often set goals, and things may not always work out that way, 2020 being a stellar example for the same. We have to be open to learning, and being flexible with adapting and changing plans along the way. Time management is key, and learning to balance work and personal life should be high on the priority list from day 1.

6.How can one overcome a hurdle of lack of funds when starting up?

There has never been a better time for young entrepreneurs to raise capital for a great new idea. If you are confident in your plan, and can back it up with a well- researched proposition, getting funded becomes much easier.

Several companies, angel investors, VCs, and often even people from within your circle, are on the lookout for investment opportunities. Networking, awareness and studying patterns of pioneers in your field are very helpful in understanding the best approach for you.

7.Since customization is a key for your brand, how has it benefited you in terms of responses from customers & how does the ideation take place ?

Being a graphic designer, customization orders are my favorite as it keeps things interesting, and it has really helped set Sarto apart, and giving it a great edge. The process depends entirely upon the clients’ requirements.

While some clients know exactly what design they’d like, very often we help ideate and create the design from scratch, specifically to the customer’s taste. The most intricate and loved designs are the custom pet portraits that we do. The happiness the clients feel is unparalleled and makes us feel even happier about the work we do!
