I am never concerned with work that I have completed. The only thing on my mind is how to make the next pieceBecoming a professional artist is simply about selling.

1. How would you describe your journey so far?

It has simply been my life. At times it has been difficult, but that is offset by great joy. I have my wife and children. I am happy being an artist.

2. Who is your favorite artist and why?

My favorite artist may be Kathe Kollwitz. I think she was brilliant. She was able to depict the human experience in a way that I relate to.

3. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

Enjoy what you do!  Otherwise there is no point being in this field.

4. Can you please tell about any one of your compositions that you believe makes you very proud?

I am never concerned with work that I have completed. The only thing on my mind is how to make the next piece. I don’t have emotions about my past work.

5. How can upcoming artistes pave a way for themselves, to make their passion, their profession?

Becoming a professional artist is simply about selling. An approach to selling can happen in two ways:  first, you can tailor your work to be sold. This means that you are removing a level of artistic freedom and your work will not have as much artistic merit. But you are making things that follow trends that will be easy to sell.

The second way is to make work that comes from the heart and hope it sells. Either way, the people you know dictate whether your work will sell or not. Someone has to be a buyer or you need a third party to act as your agent. It is about the people you know.

6.  Which is your favorite book and why ?

I like a great many books. It is hard to pick a favorite, probably, something fiction.
