Vinutha - I Believe Self-Love Is Superior to All

The tree of modelling fruits only when we run our profile with featured content keeping our followers engaged and endearing that calls attention towards our work. Social media is the platform where we find people collaborating with us.

1. Tell us about your background and journey

I grew up in a middle-class family, and since my childhood, whatever I chose to do, I did it with much love and passion. I strongly believe in "what we think, we become", and hence I pour a lot of positivity to my inner self.

I have a great sense of humour and believe self-love is superior. I love the uniqueness, and I often find myself trying to fit in the word "Unique" in whatever I do. My journey so far helps me in continuing the path forward with the exploration of new ideas, thoughts and vision towards my mission.

I hold a degree in Business Administration platform in the field of finance. I'm an entrepreneur and have been trained by international speakers. I've been constructing my business and helping others to weight up their career for a better lifestyle.

I love cooking, books are my best friends while music is my companion. I play Veena, sing and dance. I'm a huge fan of thrills and adventures. I always loved dressing up in every unique way possible.

In my opinion, fashion is about creating one's own style and not following trends. Fashion has been a part of me since my childhood, I always volunteered to participate in fashion shows, won many awards. Modelling has always been my passion, and now, it is a profession.

Though modelling was new from what I thought earlier, it still wasn't tough to cope up with. Why you ask? Because rather than competing, I always chose to get better and better.

I’m grateful for my parents, teachers, friends and family who have been a great support system throughout this journey.

2. How did you become a model?

A friend of mine, Prarthana Venkatesh Reddy who is also into modelling, supported me getting into the auditions of a beauty pageant, SOUTH INDIA QUEEN 2018. That's where it all started.

Before I started modelling, I was very conscious about my body and held myself in shape, which turned out to be the major perk throughout my journey. It's too obvious that I faced rejections in the beginning but "never give up" is what that holds you onto the journey for a long period.

With a colossal dedication and hard work, I was honoured with the crown, Ms LION'S QUEEN 2nd RUNNER UP 2018. I received a lot of offers soon after that. Last year, I walked to be the Semi-Finalist for Ms FRESH FACE OF BANGALORE 2019 organised by Radio Mirchi 93.9 RED FM.

I'd been posted to judge several fashion events held in and around Bangalore. I have been modelling for many designer-wear shoots, branded studios, SHOP _G an online application, Youtube channel, i.e. NAYA TV and did many e-commerce shoots.

I've received 'Achievement award' through my institution for the extra co-curricular activities performed.

3. What is your opinion of body image created by media & how hard is it to put up with?

Beauty cannot be defined in a word or sentence. It is different and totally unique through millions and billions of eye, cultures, places, religion and on many other bases. But in media, if I have to say, it speaks a totally different language like photoshop, editing. It portrays a more unrealistic beauty.

When you mindlessly scroll through any social media platforms, we and especially, women tend to compare their own appearance negatively with their peer group and celebrities. They often judge themselves to be worse off. And too much of such comparison can turn into depression leaping towards self-hatred, which can significantly affect a person's health & quality of life.

How hard it is to put up with? Of course, it's a battle—a tough one since it's between you and your mind but definitely not unbreakable. Positive self-talk is a substantial medicine and always helps.

It is my morning routine, I wake up to positive self-talk saying "good morning beautiful". I look into the mirror, focus on the body and verbally or mentally to my subconscious I say "I am beautiful, I got a beautiful smile, I look so toned." You've worked hard, appreciate yourself and thank yourself. I'm pretty sure this would help most of them.

4. How important is social media validation in your profession?

I believe 70% of my modelling career is dependent on social media. It is crucial to have an active profile as it plays a significant role in the offers I obtain.

I run an official account on Facebook and Instagram, updating my works. Social media is a great platform for those who are aspiring to be a freelance model. But I'd suggest being wise when you have to choose whom you should work with; otherwise, there could be a lot of loopholes that you may want to avoid.

5. How can one take care of their mental health in this glamorous high-pressure field?

Taking care of mental health totally depends on one’s positive frame of mind. One must be conscious of their inner self.
  • Take care of your body – eat healthily, stay hydrated. Don’t be tough on your body. Schedule yourself for a regular exercise.
  • Be choosy with your surroundings. You should know whom to be surrounded with.
  • Hangout often – It reduces the level of anxiety, stress, depression and is a booster for confidence.
  • Talk about how you feel- Bottling up your feelings never help they only play a negative role to your mind and body increasing anxiety and stress leading to depression. Open up, talk to your close one’s, take help when you are really in need, don’t feel hesitated.
  • Keep yourself busy and active – Have a busy schedule and know what to do in your leisure time. This builds your self-esteem, keeping you activated and pushing you towards your goals.
  • Accept who you are, be yourself- Be as crazy as you want to be, laugh out loud, wear what you want, do what you want, go to places that leave a smile on your face, rule your life. Don’t give ears to what people will have to say about how you should be and how you should feel and most importantly, never try to be another person. NO COMPARISON.
6. What are your upcoming projects?

I am currently working with Nikon and signed up for other two projects, likely would be taking more in next three months.
