Why Travelling Is Form a of Education

Travelling plays an important role in our education. The terms ‘travelling’ and ‘education ‘cannot be alienated from each other. Our education remains incomplete without travelling.

“Travelling” means going from one place to other places. In ancient times travelling was very difficult and risky because there were no proper roads and transports. A traveller had to pass hills and forests. He had to face the fury of nature, wild beasts, robbers and many other obstacles.

With triumph of science, travelling has now become easy, cheap, quick and pleasant. Due to invention of steamships railways, electricity, motor cars and airplanes, our journey from one place to and other place even in abroad has become very easy and comfortable.

Travelling is now regarded as an important part of education. Educational Tour increases our knowledge and new thoughts and ideas grow up in us.

The education of man remains incomplete if he does not visit important places of the world. Reading of books only provides man with half knowledge. But travelling with eyes wide open and mind fully gives him full knowledge.

Travelling also removes his narrowness and superstitions. It makes a traveller smart and self-reliant. Owing to the fabulous progress in the field of communication, travelling today involves less hazards.

Hence, students must take part in educational tours. It is both entertaining and instructing for them.

From Kashmir valley to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Kalimpong, in the east, our country provides hundreds of places known for architecture, climate, scenery, environment, history, development, industry, culture, music, dance, religion a fauna.

Then, there are seats of learning, which one may like to visit. Educational tour exposes your mind to the diverse cultures of India. The feeling of Unity in Diversity and Communal Harmony takes birth through educational tours.

The education of a student remains incomplete without travelling. Educational institutions and tourist bureaus often arranges study tours at affordable rates. Many schools and colleges arrange visit to places that are of geographical or historical importance.

Visit to historical places give students a practical insight of the past events. After visiting these historical places, when these students read about those places or events, then they are able to fully understand the subject.

It is very difficult to understand the nature of various types of soils, forests, etc. simply by reading textbooks. Travel to places of geographical importance also helps a student to grasp the depth of the subject.

It has been observed that in cities’ students are travelling twice a year either with their respective schools/colleges or with their parents or friends, because there is no financial problem with them, whereas students of village schools are deprived of such travels for their want of money.

Government should look into the matter and make arrangement for Education Tours in Village Schools.

Why Travelling:

People can learn from books, from the Internet, from school, but they can also learn from experience.

It is because of travelling that many of us learn so much about the world and develop new skills; simple things such as how to negotiate for cheaper prices at the market, how to cook amazing dishes, dig an irrigation channel.

When we travel we also learn, and the things we learn help us greatly in life, contribute to self-improvement and help us to become more desirable assets to companies and organisations. Travel also gives us adventure.

Seeing the world provides a source of education and although it is not a registered educational institution, the school of travel is constantly welcoming applications!

Education through travel creates long lasting memories. Field trips play an integral role in the learning system.

Organising days out have many benefits for students. The main reason to include these outings in the curriculum is that it helps students to understand what they have learned in class, in real situations.

Students gain authentic experiences and explore new surroundings when they travel. It is an education-centric approach that many have realized its effectiveness.

Travelling teaches how to Improvise:

Since travel offers real-world encounters, there is no way we can know what to expect. One of the most fundamental advantages of going on a tour is that it will test our knowledge, communication skills and patience.

Remember that traveling can be a tedious activity, where everything needs to be planned ahead of time.

Sometimes, things can go wrong and unexpected situations may come up. Such challenges are going to build our character and make us stronger.

It will allow us to hone our personal skills, helping our self to work our way through anything.

Travelling creates life-long memories among peers. Introducing students into different cultural experiences to boost their development.

Why it is the best form of education:

Here below are some reasons why traveling is the best form of education we can get irrespective of the places we travel and adventures one have.

1.   Learn Languages:

English is spoken in almost all parts of the world and it will work for us mostly. Nevertheless, it’s always better to learn the native language of the place we’re going to visit. In a way, travel forces us to learn languages.

After learning the basics through books, apps or videos, one can stretch the skills when he/she speaks with the actual native speakers. By putting our language education into use, traveling mostly develops our listening and speaking capabilities.

2.   Learn about Nature:

When we move out of our comfort zone of the concrete jungle and begin to explore the most exotic natural wonders of the world, we will begin to realize the colossal majesty of nature.

Understanding the grandeur of nature is essential to solving most of the issues of the world today such as climate change, air pollution and global warming. When we fully realize what we are going to lose with our conduct, then solving these issues will be much easier.

So better than spending all the funds in organizing seminars and conferences. It would suit us better to send the people backpacking to the most exotic mountains, lakes, forests and plains of the world.

3.   Learn to do New Things:

Traveling will test us in each and every step we take. As we’re exploring our way into the unknown, traveling naturally forces one to do so many things which he/she wouldn’t have done otherwise.

Whether it be while learning to pet the elephants in Cambodia, mountaineering through the snowclad mountains in Nepal or dancing Samba in Brazil, we will experience plenty of new things during our travels.

Traveling is in fact a way of learning to learn. We are out of our comfort zone and so we must learn to be able to adapt to a new learning environment in a very short time. It also helps in our overall learning as well.

4.   Learn about many Cultures:

Not just traveling to a foreign country but also to the different parts of our own country is the best way to discern what it’s all about. We better understand how the cultures around the world vary and where the common ground lies.

Differences exist in cuisines, etiquettes and lifestyle across different cultures. But in spite of the differences, we can find so many commonalities like shared love for art, nature and ancestors that bind all the different cultures together.

Education is not just about learning things to make our living but also contributing towards making it a better place to live in. The understanding of diverse cultures plays a vital role in your education.

5.   Learn to be Independent:

If we have spent our life being reactive, reacting to the circumstances placed upon us and we want to change that and haven’t been able to do so, traveling will teach us to be proactive and control our own fate by ourselves.

Traveling forces one to be independent. This is even more the case when we travel on our own. There’s no choice but to make decisions and take initiatives completely by ourselves as we don’t have anyone to tell what to do nor anyone we can outsource the task too.

Independence is a fundamental goal of education. The focus of what we refer to as traditional education may be on financial independence but traveling will also teach one to be independent intellectually and emotionally.

6.   Learn about Yourself:

Probably the most important aspect of education that travel helps is our education about our self. Travel is our best teacher not only on history, language and politics but also on our self.

We realize our true potential, the things that we really enjoy and the person who we really are. Without travel, we have a very limited understanding of our true self and we may even be completely unaware of our real persona.

If one hasn’t really decided what he/she is going to do with our life or what we want to be in future, traveling extensively and preferably to places we have never heard of before, is the best way to help us make a decision.

Traveling promotes international understand the capabilities and relations. It creates goodwill. It brings people closer. Increments our relations with various states and countries.

The seeds of natural integration and international happy in the present day, world the understanding between various nations of the world are a great necessity. There can be no peace without international understanding. So, it should be made an integral part of our curricular.
