Humera Rajput - Social Media Gave Me the Opportunity to Explore My Hidden Abilities (Vlogger)

Humera Rajput

For two years I have worked with consistency and learned about content creation, camera equipment, editing & most importantly I developed my content niche in food vlogging and covering from street food stalls to fine dining restaurants.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Born & raised in Lahore Pakistan, I grew up as a crazy fan of Kareena Kapoor & I always had a dream to pursue a career in Pakistan's media industry but after marriage in 2014, I moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Marriage & motherhood comes with great responsibilities but I kept my passion alive & always looked for ways to do creative stuff and the social media thrive gave me that opportunity to explore my hidden abilities and learn new things.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

I used to watch Irfan Junejo & Gaurav Taneja vlogs religiously and always told myself that I have the same confidence to face the camera in public without fear of what people will think.

That's how in March 2019 I decided to start vlogging but being a lady in this field it's not as easy a ride as it seemed.

For two years I have worked with consistency and learned about content creation, camera equipment, editing & most importantly I developed my content niche in food vlogging and covering from street food stalls to fine dining restaurants.

3. Is vlogging and YouTube content creation a financially sustainable career?

I think Youtube is not practical or sustainable in terms of financial growth but it's a great platform, to begin with as a content creator to learn and practice skills such as content writing, video editing, production, social media but it definitely opens new doors of opportunities & possibilities.

4. Who is your favorite creator and why?

Gaurav Taneja AKA (Flying Beast) from India is my favorite creator, I truly admire his dedication, the way he manages his aviation career, family life, and vlogging.

I have derived great motivation from him during the pandemic when he lost his pilot job but remained positive and never stopped believing in himself and never gave up in hard times.

His journey has helped me as a content creator & as a person to stay focused, motivated, and work hard.

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

Being an ex-pat in Saudi Arabia, I have the opportunity to meet people from diverse communities, different cultures & languages, and also different food.

I believe every food has a unique story behind, its tradition & values and I experience that through food & which's my source of inspiration.

6. Which is your favorite book and why?

Pocket Full of Do by Chris Do.

For its retrospective glimpse into the life of a creative business owner and lessons learned along the way.

7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

Content creation should be fun not a burden defining responsibilities and never put yourself in a race, otherwise, you will lose the love and passion for content creation, you will only think and care about what others are doing or thinking. Just be true to yourself.
