Nivi Selvaraj - The Best Thing About Being a Travel Blogger Is the Admiration That I Receive From My Readers

The pure joy of documenting my travel stories and experiences makes my heart content. The best thing about being a travel blogger is the admiration that I receive from my readers. Nothing can even come close to it. When I hear from a stranger that he was inspired to take a solo trip after reading my blog, I am overwhelmed. I like it when I am able to connect with people through my travel blog. It’s a different high.

1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

I’m Nivi Selvaraj, an avid marketeer by profession, traveller by passion. I’m an adventure travel blogger and an artpreneur with an insatiable thirst for offbeat experiences. I thrive my soul on travel, art and adventures

2. When did you decide to start travel blogging?

I started blogging since 2016

3. What do you like the best about travel blogging?

The pure joy of documenting my travel stories and experiences makes my heart content. The best thing about being a travel blogger is the admiration that I receive from my readers. Nothing can even come close to it.

When I hear from a stranger that he was inspired to take a solo trip after reading my blog, I am overwhelmed. I like it when I am able to connect with people through my travel blog. It’s a different high.

4. What roadblocks did you face when you were started out?

Getting freelance opportunities and building a consistent readership were some of the difficulties at the initial stages. But blogging growth and consistency go hand in hand, putting out readable content which are useful for people is a must, with time it became easy to know which content works and which doesn’t.

5. Can travel blogging be a full time career?

Travel blogging can be a full-time career if you’re really passionate about it and ready to go through the lows as much you want the highs. It is purely a personal choice. I work as a digital marketeer for a full-time career and that was something I build from scratch, I immensely love from job and that’s the reason I haven’t taken up blogging as a full-time career.

I get paid travel gigs purely through my blog these days, it has been an effort over the years and not an overnight success. One needs to keep this in mind while taking decisions.

6. Which is your favourite book and why?

Ikigai: Japanese secret to a long and happy life is one of my favourites. Ikigai is a beautiful little read about the simple ways of life and the peace of mind. About happiness, appreciation and connecting with nature.

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. A good book for all the creative souls out there. Talks about fear, motivation and inspiration of the creators. It was very relatable read.
