5 Ways to Beat the Heat This Summer

Remember the times when we used to spend hours playing out? the time when we used to go visit our grandparents during our summer vacations? Or the time when we sipped on that tangy lemonade and golas? Finally, the wait is over and summer is here! This season can take us to our carefree days of childhood.

The summer season not only brings mangoes, joy, and tons of fun, but it also comes with lots of health risks and challenges. These include dehydration, sunburn, heat strokes, etc. Therefore, one should not neglect their health as it can lead to some serious repercussions. Following are some tips and hacks that will let you enjoy summers while keeping your health in check!

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Enough has been said about the importance of drinking water and despite being aware of it, we do not drink adequate water daily. During summer our bodies are prone to dehydration which can lead to serious complications. To prevent such fatal conditions it is essential to drink plenty of water. On average one should drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water daily. One can opt for various fruits which are rich in water content such as watermelon, orange, cucumber, etc. however avoid drinking too much coffee or alcohol as they promote dehydration.

2. Wear Comfortable Clothes

Worrying about what to wear and what to avoid during summers may not seem to be as essential as the other things. Nevertheless, wearing the right kind of fabric will save you from a number of problems. Synthetic clothing is a big no-no. Loose, airy cotton apparel should be your go-to outfits. Wearing cotton will ensure good air circulation plus it will absorb all the sweat. Try to put on long-sleeved clothes when going out.

3. Stay Indoor

This may sound unadventurous but avoid going out until it’s very important. You can also plan your outings according to the weather forecast to save yourself from that extra dose of heat. This will prevent the chances of you getting sunburn or heatstrokes. However, if you love to go out on a daily basis, you can do that once the sun comes down.

4. Make a Skincare Routine

We may love the summer season despite all the heat and sweat, but for our skin, it is no less than a threat if proper care is not taken. Excessive sweat and oil can cause irritation and other skin-related problems. Therefore one must face their face regularly or use tissues to wipe dirt and sweat. Keeping sunscreen handy is also a must. Go for a sunscreen that is waterproof and with an SPF of 30 or more than that.

 5. Eat Healthy and Regularly

Excessive heat in the summer tends to make us feel full and reduce our appetite. However, it is important to take a nutritious and light diet during this season. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables that have high water content such as cucumber, squash, etc. One should avoid food that generates heat in our bodies such as eggs, meat, and other proteins. And refrain from eating outside food that is high in fats and carbohydrates.

It’s time to gear up for our favorite season. Keeping in mind this small precaution will save you from a lot of trouble in the long run. Take care of yourself and those around you while enjoying the best of this season!
