Adam Kolozetti and Katelyn Bullock - A Successful Business Requires an Understanding of Your Skill Sets, and a Willingness to Reach Out for Help When You Need It (Entrepreneur)

When the pandemic lockdowns came in 2020 we lost 80% of our business within a week. Not entirely unexpected but devastating. We panicked for 2 weeks as we had both left promising jobs to start this business, and then we said ok, what can we do? So we decided to learn everything we could about social media and digital marketing.

1. Tell us more about your company Enta Solutions and your journey.

Enta Solutions is a management consulting company that specializes in Perpetual EPICness! We work with small-medium-sized businesses to do 3 things: Digital lead generation, Building internal engagement, Business structure optimization.  We love working with these sized businesses because we are able to develop long-lasting relationships with the owners and the people and we become part of their success story.

2. How did you come up with this idea and go about executing it?

Enta is Arabic for “You are” so Enta Solutions means “You Are the Solution”.  As co-founders, Katelyn and I worked for several large companies as engineers for a lot of years, and we felt that there was a disconnect between the human experience and the processes and procedures of how business was run.

We used to have “philosophical conversations” about how we would do things in a more relatable, people-centric way if we had our own company.  And then one day we just started it!!

3. What has been your biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome that?

When the pandemic lockdowns came in 2020 we lost 80% of our business within a week. Not entirely unexpected but devastating. We panicked for 2 weeks as we had both left promising jobs to start this business, and then we said ok, what can we do? So we decided to learn everything we could about social media and digital marketing.

We took courses, engaged consultants, and just started trying.  2 months of learning and 3 months of executing and social media, in particular, LinkedIn started driving business our way!  In fact, 6 months after the pandemic we hired our first employee, followed by our second 2 months after that with a third starting shortly. This became such a powerful part of our business that we started teaching it, and in the last few months have added it as one of our main offerings!

4. What do you think are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?

A successful entrepreneur has to believe in a dream of a better world. It is hard and it is lonely at times. There are incredible highs, but also scary lows and if you don’t believe in a strong sense of purpose, you may not prevail.

5. What are some of the most important factors for running a successful business?

A successful business requires an understanding of your skill sets, and a willingness to reach out for help when you need it. It is often a “who” that you need most not a “how” meaning don’t do everything yourself.  That combined with a bit of luck and timing, and you can do anything.

6. What are your tips for first-time and aspiring entrepreneurs?

Tips for aspiring entrepreneurs are to understand that just because you are good at and love your offering, does not necessarily mean you are good at and will love building a business around that offering. For example, a great chef might hate running a restaurant.

The second tip is that you know your offering is amazing, but the rest of the world doesn’t. So whether you like it or not you have to become really good at sales and marketing.  Sometimes word of mouth is enough, but it won’t always be.

7. How has your journey been from being an engineer & project manager and eventually becoming an entrepreneur & digital marketing whizzes?

The journey has been a relentless adventure. My days are so dynamic.  In the morning I’m teaching a course, in the afternoon I’m doing live interviews and building escape rooms for team-building exercises. The world is changing so fast, and the pandemic accelerated that so pivoting has become just part of how we operate.

I love being an entrepreneur, it is a world without limits which is both the greatest thing and the potentially worst thing. Personal boundaries become important so you don’t burn out, and your business growth will reflect your own internal growth. So really, at the end of the day, there are two journeys all the time.
