Have you ever faced that moment when you deleted an Instagram post inadvertently and wanted to get it back? That post, with reactions from friends and followers, can now be retrieved. The platform has rolled out a 'recently deleted' feature, allowing users to review and restore deleted posts.
To make this work, Instagram will move deleted posts, including from Reels and IGTV, to a ‘recently deleted’ folder instead of permanently erasing them. This transition folder will hold posts for 30 days, and then auto deletes. So, within that one-month window, you can retrieve your posts back. For deleted stories, the ones not in the archive will stay in the folder for up to 24 hours.
Instagram is rolling out a new 'Recently Deleted' feature to its app menu that temporarily stores your posts even after you delete them from your profiles or archives. This feature allows users to recover posts, including photos, videos, stories, and more.
According to the Verge, Instagram is positioning this feature particularly if hackers gain control of an account and start deleting content. Starting today, users will need to confirm they are the account owner through either text or email in order to permanently delete or restore content.
Step-By-Step Guide on How to Restore Your Deleted Instagram Posts
- Install the latest version of Instagram from Google Play or App Store.
- Open the app and go to your Profile.
- Tap the hamburger menu at the top-right corner and head to Settings.
- Go to Account and tap the new Recently Deleted.
- Your recently deleted content will be displayed on the screen.
- Now tap the post you would like to recover, and then tap the three dots icon at the top.
- Now you can either choose to permanently delete the post or recover it. Tap Restore to recover your deleted post.
- While restoring, you will first have to verify that it's you for security reasons. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your phone number or email ID.
- Now enter the code and tap Confirm.
- Your deleted Instagram post will be recovered.
Note: All media remains in the ‘Recently Deleted’ section for 30 days and you have time until that to restore your media. Once the 30-day period lapses, the media will automatically get deleted forever and you won’t be able to restore it ever.
