Israel, a neighbour of the
Arabs, seems to have plagued the same epidemic, the insanity of power, staying
on top, and not easily relinquishing the position even if it was forced to hold
fourth elections in just two years.
And in light of the global
epidemic that tired the world and affected the largest global economies. In
addition, there are charges against Netanyahu of corruption, but he is still
resisting staying on top like his Arab neighbours who have signed peace agreements
with.
Results of the Fourth Elections
A victory for the right in the
Knesset, but without a real decision for who will lead the country in the
coming period, as although Netanyahu's party won a majority of 30 seats, it did
not get the majority that would enable him to form the next government, as his
coalition won 61% and the opposition got 57%. The results are disappointing for
Netanyahu's coalition.
The opposition won 57% of the
votes, meaning that it needs four votes to obtain a majority and the right to
form the next government, while Netanyahu is seeking to obtain agreements and
repair differences between him and his coalition parties.
While the Arabs have disintegrated their alliance, which won 15 seats in the previous elections, but the disintegration in these elections that occurred in their list led to the division of these seats between two parties that split from each other and Netanyahu seeks to get close to them in order to obtain a majority in this election but the parties allied with him are preventing him.
New Alliances
Netanyahu sitting on power for
a long time, as well as the corruption charges that are haunting him, opened
the eyes of the competitors, and they found the appropriate opportunity to
storm the reins of power in the country in which Netanyahu had previously
achieved overwhelming results in the elections.
In these circumstances, the
competitors found that they would not be able to topple Netanyahu without major
alliances, which put several parties of different orientations into one bloc.
They are led by people from
Netanyahu's previous governments and people close to him, such as Naftali
Bennett, the person who has been in the government formations for Netanyahu
since 2013 in order to turn against him and form an alliance and become the
closest competitor to ousting Netanyahu.
King Netanyahu
Netanyahu has dominated Israel
for two decades, and he has become an absolute leader in the country and
strongly controls government and security institutions, and he has become the
first face of Israel in the world, and he becomes known to the international
community,
The eloquent person who is able
to confront everyone thanks to the support of the first ally, America,
especially during a period of rule President Trump.
But it seems that the Israelis
are looking for a new man to lead the country after the hegemony of Netanyahu,
which analysts find that it is nearing completion, while the elections indicate
the opposite, as in the past four elections in the previous two years.
It was closer to a referendum
for Netanyahu to remain in power, and he was succeeding in achieving the
required result to stay on top.
New Face in the Fourth
Elections
The fourth election seems to be
a great opportunity for a new face to come to power, especially in the presence
of a large coalition opposing Netanyahu, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett, who
has enjoyed great public and political support in recent times, taking
advantage of his previous relations and positions.
In addition to the accusations
that pursue Netanyahu, who evades and denies them, as well as changing the
administration in the United States, and the arrival of Biden, who declared
that he will not directly support Netanyahu in these elections, which
contributed to a decline in the support that Netanyahu receives from inside and
outside.
Normalization with the Arabs,
the first enemy of Israel, and vaccination against the fastest Corona virus
vaccine in the world. It seems that it will not constitute a major point in the
race towards the premiership.
The results indicate the need
for an alliance with another party in order for Netanyahu and his opponents to
win a majority so that they form the next government in Israel.
