It’s essential that students improve their social and emotional competencies . The major goals of a student is to socialize with others, be honest, be respectful to all without any discrimination and exhibit empathy.

It is said that Lack of perseverance, lack of self-discipline and lack of motivation are major stumbling blocks in the way students success thereby reducing the participation in all aspects of the society where they fear they will fail to become a leader.

Now we all remember how Malala Yousafzai, a teenage Pakistani activist, became the youngest Nobel Peace winner (at the age of 17 years) for endorsing girls’ right to education. She was just 11 years old when an accident changed her life and changed her outlook towards life. Her actions prove that you're never too young to make a difference and raising your voice against injustice only helps bring justice.

Some of the ways to contribute towards the betterment of society:

1) Volunteering will help you connect with people around you. By volunteering you indirectly help people who need help. You may reach out to organizations by expressing your desire to learn and implement a change for a better tomorrow.

2) Blood donations are one the most noble causes to help at. As a student, volunteering at blood drive via  school or college gives you an opportunity to interact with blood donors and at the same time help out with the sample collections.

3) Interact with people from different walks of life especially those who make do with the little they have. It will leave you amazed and you'll learn to count your blessings everyday while also wanting to uplift the weaker sections of society in your own way.

4) Feed the hungry. Relieving someone from starvation is a way of displaying humanity and giving back to society.

5) Help raise funds by reaching out to generous donors. You can form a group and conduct donation drives or functions where you could reach out to potential donors, explain the use of resources for the needy and then encourage them to donate on a regular basis.

6) You could help the environment by planting trees on multiple location. It would help generate cleaner air and protect our planet.

7) Focus on being financially independent in the longer run. Once you manage your own resources, you feel further motivated to help others and give back to the society.

Lastly, by bringing about a change in your thought process and helping others to widen their horizon on various topics that have been impacting the society, you can bring about a positive change.

Change always begins with you. Once you find yourself determined enough to take on any challenge, you're bound to succeed.
