1. Tell us about your upbringing, background & journey.

Born in New Delhi, raised across India, I have been a part of various cultures and traditions ever since I remember. I come from a military background and by the time I reached class 12, I had already changed eight schools. As much as I loved living in new cities, I loved exploring their artforms.

No wonder, growing up, I was always inclined towards performing different forms of arts, be it music, singing, dancing, or acting. I did my engineering (B.Tech) in computer science. Currently, I’m pursuing my Global MBA from Deakin Business School, Australia. Professionally, I have worked with various corporations across the globe as a strategy consultant over the last 8 years.

My passion for music, however, led me to record my first ever album in Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai. Following which I was featured on Rolling Stone India for my band’s album “Soul Bridge”. My band worked with the famous Chris Flores, who produced Slash and Rihanna and worked with them on a few projects.

Talking about the time when the entrepreneurial bug bit me, it was 2017 when I left my cozy corporate job to start something on my own. The risk I took a few years back made me who I am today- an Entrepreneur by profession, an entertainer by passion, a podcaster, musician, and a strategy consultant. I wear many hats throughout the day, be it the Director’s cap at Influenkr, or the founder’s hat at Socially Desi.

2. How did you choose this field & what led you to rise to the highest echelons?

Content is the future! Every company needs to act like a media company in 2021 and beyond. Videos, Podcasts or blogs; any content that can portray the essence of your brand is the greatest weapon you can possess in the ever-growing field of digital marketing.

And like I said, I am an Entrepreneur by profession and entertainer by passion, the creative field of influencer marketing and strategy was a natural calling for me. With Socially Desi, we curate the right content that establishes our influence in the market and with Influenkr we help brands cut through the noise and expand their digital presence and authority amongst customers

For me, tapping into my creativity is of utmost importance, whether it's curating my blog posts, podcasts or composing music. I appreciate the fact that these forms of communication have found their own set of audiences and I feed off this energy to continue creating – It’s an interesting cycle.

3. What advice do you have for people who want to rise in a corporate environment?

Have a vision; be determined, creative, and ambitious. Be firm, and have clarity in your thoughts and you are good to go. These skills and qualities will help you face the corporate or the business environment. Also, build a network and have a value system in order to position yourself.

I also believe that continual learning is the key to climbing up the corporate ladder in 2021 and beyond. Every company is looking for candidates who are willing to learn and adapt to a new working environment and face challenges head-on.

4. How has branding changed over the years?

There has been a paradigm shift in branding in the last few years. Traditionally, consistency was considered to be the most valuable principle in branding. However, in today’s time, consistency isn’t enough. This is the age of creativity and imagination. Brands now focus on building creative strategies.

They leverage design thinking on their marketing strategies and tactics. Also, the new dynamic encourages robust brand-consumer relationships, something that wasn’t seen traditionally. A huge part of branding involves having a good image in front of the audience. The power, basically, is in their hands.

5. How should one approach a new partnership for success?

One can really expand their consumer base by partnering with another company. It provides more value to the existing customers. Prior to partnering, make sure you know why you are associating with the company. The relationship should be mutual.

  • Be clear with what you expect from the partnership
  • Work as a team and grow together
  • Be honest and transparent
  • Give value to your relationship
  • Communicate
  • Make sure that your beliefs and goals match

6. What are your future plans?
