“Not a word passes between us, not because we have nothing to say, but because we don't have to say anything” ― Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
This quote is much more than just a line in my favorite book, The Kite Runner, authored By Khalid Hosseini.
A story of a heartbreaking friendship amidst the background of a war zoned territory of Afghanistan. The story is simply an extraordinary piece of work, touching upon the subtleties of life and leaves you with a concoction of emotions and feelings.
The story revolves around the unbreakable bond of two friends, Amir and Hasan, both of whom belong to different social backgrounds but despite that Amir and his father, the wealthier family embraces Hasan and his father, treating them as their own. However, as ill-fate would have it, their childhood friendship was marked by an unfortunate incident with Hasan and their loving bond turned into silence and finally separation.
Each line and dialogue of the book is so perfectly curated, that it makes it almost irresistible for any fiction lover. A true-fiction lover wouldn't be able to resist the urge of completing the book in one sitting. An emotionally heartbreaking book, plays on your minds and has the ability to leave a deep impression on us.
The novel also touches upon the grapping situation that Afghanistan has been faced with ever since the emergence of the Taliban, which opens the eyes of the reader and helps one become grateful for the comparatively safer and politically sound country that they maybe residing in.
The book is a perfect blend of joy, mystery and heartening feelings which often leaves one pensive for days on end. The novel has gained popularity simply because it presents fiction in the most realistic form by citing examples of instances that do take place in small towns around the world.
About the Author
All Khalid Hosseini needs is a few words to perfectly express it all. The beautifully crafted book, is one of his best sellers along with "A Thousand Splendid Suns", another novel which is yet again based in the war-zone of Afghanistan.
His stories are a representation of every Afghan's life and how they all survived the atrocities of the Taliban. He is a prime example of a immigrant taking refuge in the USA after he and his family could no longer bear the violence.
Very few writers are as talented as him and even fewer have the ability to express all forms of human emotions and psychology by way of a novel as easy to read as the Kite Runner.
Khaled is currently based in the USA and apart from being a prolific writer, Khaled is also a Doctor, an activist and a humanitarian.
