A new political map of Pakistan is being released by PM Imran Khan showing the entire Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Gujarat as its territories. India dismissed it as ridiculous assertion that have neither legal validity nor international credibility.
What Are the Attributes of the New Map?
As said above, the new political map of Pakistan claims to have the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir dragging all the way to the edge of Ladakh. However, the part of Kashmir and Ladakh border with China was not marked and described as frontier undecided. The map also claims to have some part of Gujarat-Junahgarh and Munavadar, princely state.
Similarly, the line of Control has been entered to the Karakoram pass, clearly showing Siachen as part of Pakistan. The LOC has been marked Red Dotted Line. Pakistan also claims the entire territory and water bodies that fall in the Sir Creek region in the western most part of India.
After the map launch, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the border area will be fixed after sorting out the Kashmir issue. PM khan also said it was approved by federal Cabinet on Tuesday.
What Will Be the Impact of This Devised Mapping?
This map is fabricated to change the Pakistan’s position on territorial controversy with India. Mr. Khan wants to change the main attributes of Pakistan’s Kashmir discussion as it includes the Jammu remarkably, by demanding Kashmir.
Also the inclusion of Junahgarh and Manavadar opens fundamental issues of territorial ascendancy of India.
Manavdar, a princely territory and Junahgarh, joined India on February 15 and September respectively in the same year integrating to Indian territory. After claiming its control over these states, Pakistan is not likely to contend its right over the former princely state of Hyderabad as well. The map is highlighted the legal cover for some Islamabad’s territorial ambitions, to gain profess over Kashmir and Sir Creek specially.
What Does He Want to Acquire by Doing This?
Pakistan is trying to reassert its claim over Rann which was lost in the adjudication in Geneva where India was granted the entire Rann and its marshy area while Pakistan was left with solid land across Rann. India’s position on Sir Creek is based on the adjudication case in 1966-1969. But by demanding delimitation to shift toward the eastern back, the Pakistan is trying to regain control over its old territory. Also the Sir Creek is a collection of water bodies that extend from Arabian Sea deep inside the territory of Kutch and is rich in biodiversity and mangrove forest. It can be beneficial to Pakistan as it is a rich site of nature which can give Pakistan a lot benefits economically and culturally both.
Will the Map Activate a Political Battle?
While launching the map, Mr. Khan described it as document that depicts the desire of the people of Pakistan that will be showcased to the world. Mr. Khan has stipulated that the map will eventually activate diplomatic battles understandings.
But in India, the ministry of external affairs said Pakistan’s new political map is a exercise of “Political Absurdity”. They dismisses it as “ridiculous”.
