I mean let's be honest, who does not know about Sherlock Holmes. The famous detective who is on Bakers Street 221B, helping Scotland Yard, with his friend Dr. Watson.
So why does still, the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which is adapted into movies in almost every decade, so why am I here talking about Sherlock. Maybe it's because if a story is adapted many times, then it matters how it is presented, and SHERLOCK ticks all boxes on that.

The story begins with Sherlock Holmes living his monotonous life, when he is looking for a roommate, he meets Dr. John Watson via forensics expert Henderson. Dr. Watson, who is a Vietnam war veteran, is skeptical of this weird, quirky person and is warned to stay away from him.
Sherlock, who has other plans, involves Dr. Watson in one of his cases, and Watson did end up saving Sherlock’s ass. It is when Watson realizes that Sherlock is a good person, who helped him recover a bit from war trauma, he moves in with him and then embarks on a journey of their adventures.
Seasons’ Review
Season 1 begins with Sherlock meeting Watson, who walks limping until he solves a case with Sherlock and realizes he doesn't need his stretchers and sticks with him.
The second episode ‘The Blind Banker is a nail-biter but it is in episode three that the Sherlock arch-nemesis ‘James Moriarity’ is introduced and he sets up Sherlock in danger only to end the season in Cliffhanger.
Season 2 begins with Sherlock and Moriarity in deadlock still when Moriarity gets a call and leaves Sherlock for later. Here we are introduced to Irene Adler, his love interest, and a lot of crimes only to return and put all blame on Sherlock again hanging us in a cliffhanger.
Season 3 marks Sherlock's return and we see Watson and Mary getting married. In this season, we see the technique Sherlock use to have such high wits and how he tackles a very strong influential opponent.
Season 4 portrays Sherlock as a bit weak and lonely with less support from everywhere with his challenges and cases getting harder. Being the final season, the last episode is satisfying and gives a proper ending to the amazing genius’s story.
Characters to Look Out for
1. Sherlock Holmes - He is the protagonist of the story with all characters revolving around him. He is a typical loner genius, the quirky detective who does weird stuff to innovate and always learn.
His skill of reading crime scenes is so brilliant that it gives the impression sometimes that he has committed the crime himself. A very lovable and interesting character portrayed brilliantly by Benedict Cumberbatch.
2. Dr. John Watson - As always considered, Dr. Watson is in no way a sidekick to Sherlock. He is a war veteran who moves in with Sherlock and gives his medical perspective in all the cases. The character development is greatly portrayed by Martin Freeman.
3. Greg Lestrade - He is the Scotland Yard Inspector portrayed by Rupert Graves. He always comes to help for Sherlock but to portray that efficiently that doesn't make the Police look stupid, but Sherlock as genius is brilliantly portrayed.
4. Jim Moriarity - He is the main villain, the antagonist of the show. Always considered as evil and with brains equal to Sherlock, but the portrayal by Andrew Scott is just amazing. He shows the craziness and the innocent act which is always a plan for his sinister deeds.
5. Mary Watson - She is the wife of Dr. John Watson is introduced as a perfect housewife of modern-day London, only to realize she has some dark secrets of her own which twist her fate into Sherlock and Watson's cases. The portrayal by Amanda Abbington is spot on.
6. Mycroft Holmes - He is the brother of Sherlock Holmes is a government official who calls himself an ‘arch-enemy’ to Sherlock. But he is the one who employs Sherlock to high profile national and international cases, gets him the government pass whenever necessary, one might think he is looking out for his younger brother and you will enjoy Mark Gatiss’s performance.
The Bottom Line
‘Sherlock’ consists of 4 seasons with three episodes per season. And as it looks, the episode appears quite less for a typical thriller series. But the story is nowhere compromised, with each episode hinging you on more and more.
It is a series where you say it's hard to stop clicking on the next episode. Episode 1 does appear a bit slow for the story but after that, the Game is on…
You can stream ‘Sherlock’ on Netflix or BBC Network and enjoy the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle works and enjoy top-class mystery and thrill.
